I rebuilt my turnstile as i found out that zip ties aren't good enough to keep the rods stable.
This time i used nuts and bolts.
Considering the antenna is in an unstable position, only at 2 meters above ground i consider the NOAA 19 pass from this morning decent:)

avhrr_3_APT_channel_A.png

... and finally i can understand what's on the pass without adding borders:lol:
I even got something on the DSB frequency and it's a 1st time for me

Nice pass, what brand/type/make of antenna are you using? Post a photo if you have a chance.

I'm thinking of trying out an A/B relay (high frequency RF type with "N" connectors on it) and using the discone for other bands, then switch to a new 137 MHz antenna for satellite, I'd use the old 137 antenna but it got kinda crushed up after a wind storm took the mast and it down, looking to build a new one.

Its a 137MHz wxsat turnstile. No brandname - its came off ebay from a Slovakian seller a few years ago.

2.JPG

Left to right

137MHz turnstile. Also used for 145.8MHz reception of the ISS sstv activations
145MHz dipole - only really used for monitoring the local repeaters when Im sitting in the garden on a nice warm afternoon
1090MHz home made aircraft tracking antenna. 200+ mile range out to the south west.

This is from Oct 2018 but its much tghe same now as it was then.

OK kids this is weird, I'm now getting almost error free down link data on NOAA-15, I wounder whats going on??? I have changed nothing, and everything looks normal in the spectrum.

This is this mornings pass, you can see that the mid pass data errors I have been getting are gone. (see my other photos)

NOAA15 is an elderly satellite & often has data errors in it - most of the instruments are barely functional now.

As darkness sweeps westwards across Europe the last few places in sunlight are highlighted on this evening picture

Met M2-3 15/5/24, 1910utc 32degree elevation east pass

The southwest corner of Norway is seen (Vestland area), and whilst most of the UK is covered in cloud (as bloody usual!) the very north east corner of mainland Scotland plus Orkney & Shetland are clear.

I think I figured out my problem with the Meteor satellites, the Discone antenna I'm using does not work too good for a circularly polarized signal.

So I built the one in Cirio70's post (#218) and with it just sitting on the deck I got very good pass on NOAA-18 this morning.

The signal on SatDump.
New antenna 1a.jpg

And the decoded pass.NOAA-18 pass 5-17a new antenna.jpg

So now to get it up in the air and wait for a pass on the Meteors.

There is something screwy with M2-4 atm....

18/5/24 0425utc msu msr rgb 221

THATS not right!

Capture.JPG

I hope this is just some sort of slew test & not an indication M2-4 is having pointing problems....

Location on the image in northern Europe - Denmark & Sweden / Finland are clearly visible.

Oh dear - something is awry somewhere! Which is a shame as it would have been a good image!

Excellent but how do you expand the display like that ? I noticed you get snow at the start like me. Never get this with V2
