I had a log mast periodic aerial for Freeview which was used in an upstairs bedrooms. Recently the channel count went down from 29 to 17. Checked it was pointing at Rowridge 23 miles away and checked the aerial, the connection was damp despite being fitted with a boot. I was advised to fit a TYPHOON SUPER High Gain Digital Pro. All fitted and had an extra 20 channels with a signal strength of 50%. Contacting the seller he told me to fit in a vertical position despite most in the area being fitted horizontal. Magic 81 TV channels. Now no more whines about QVC not available.

She knows the rules. One new dress in and one goes out. The advantages of CCTV.

OTOH, better make sure the "prices" match - or else, she might "take advantage" of the "rules"!:-rofl2

The majority of horizontal beams will be when Rowridge analogue tranmitted in horizontal only. Most of the DTT is now in both V and H planes apart from Com7 and the local output which is H only. It shouldn't matter which polarity you choose although if off beam interference can be a problem then H will give a tighter, cleaner pattern.

The chances of com7 being around into 2021 are exceedingly thin.

What happens if you turn the old log periodic through 90 degrees ? (After fixing the water ingress)

Water getting into the coax connectors? A little dab of dielectric grease in the connector will keep it dry. (use the stuff for RF connections not the stuff for auto light bulbs)
