Morning All

I occasionally (not this morning though :D) have to reset one or other of the Dark Motors, and I use the methods in the manual - as shown in the image below - but I can't understand the first method "Hardware Reset by Receiver" as I literally can't see how you can do Step 4 "Execute the command: Shift "0". " if you aren't using a keyboard, rather than a receiver remote control!Dark Motor Reset Methods.JPG

OR: is this just a "Chinglish" mistranslation and it should read something like the same as Step 1, i.e.
- " Execute the command: Go To Reference (Go To “0”).

Thanks in advance for any info as this has been bugging me ever since I got the first DM!

You will need to select DiSEqC 1.2 for the full motor menu to reset your motor,
This is not available in DiSEqC 1.3 USALS.

Many thanks but that prompts a couple more questions on the method.

I have just used the TM5402M3 and opened the Motorized Settings to set it to DiSEqC 1.2 - see "Dark Motor - TM1.jpg below".

Would I then be correct in selecting "Motor Control" to open that submenu as shown in "Dark Motor - TM2.jpg"?

If so, which of the submenu options should I then choose to complete the "Hardward Reset by Receiver" method?
I'm guessing that it's "Reset System" - but that is only a guess!

If I should not have opened the "Motor Control" submenu, then what should I have done?

Thanks in advance.

Reset the system in DiSEqC 1.2 then go back to DiSEqC 1.3 USALS,
That will work with most motors,
You can go a stage further & recalculate then go to reference after you have reset the system.

Thanks - that would seem to mean that before any recalculation, the sequence should be roughly as follows (just trying to get things "right in my head" for the next time I have to do this!):
"1) In the receiver “Motorized Settings” menus, select DiSEqC 1.2 (not USALS).
2) Select “Motor Control”
3) Select “Reset System” (or similar wording), and execute that command
4) Cut off the power by disconnecting the coaxial cable.
5) Reconnect the coaxial cable.
At this point the system has been reset but the existing location of the Reference satellite has not been altered."

Is that last statement correct, or has the Reference sat location actually been reset to the nominal "0" degrees?

BTW: So what does the "Recalculate" command then actually do?

Thanks in advance.

Many thanks again - different motor and controls, but does give more useful info on the set/reset procedures than the very poor/confusing text in the DM manual.

I see you had some problems with your motor 3 years ago,
Supreme Dark Motor not moving? - SatsUK
That was the original "Supreme" DM that I bought, and which was not working well, if at all, with the Solo 2. However, the supplier then conceded that that DM version did occasionally have "issues" when working with certain E2 receivers, and replaced it with the "Superior" version which did/does not seem to have the same problems (both motors here are the latter version).

Neither motor is giving "trouble" ATM - I was just trying to understand what those "tangled" instructions in the DM manual were meant to imply that one should do if there was "trouble"!

(FWIW: rather "housebound" ATM after the knee Arthroscopy operation on Friday, so spending some time clearing up "bits and pieces" of "stuff" that have been hanging around from the past.

Hope to be a little more mobile from tomorrow when some of the bandages can come off - everything looking fairly good so far, but taking it easy to try to avoid any damage to the healing processes and it will probably be a couple of weeks before I know just how effective the op will be.)

There is a good chance I will be in Hounslow - unfortunately - tomorrow early afternoon. I might be able to get to you after if the traffic is light.

Thanks but the motors aren't giving any trouble ATM and so I'd rather leave any outdoor stuff for another couple of weeks or so until I am more sure of my mobilty. I'm hoping to be OK to go the RIAT airshow at Fairford at the end of next week and so don't want to do anything jeopardise that (paid enough for the tickets!). In the meantime, it's gently increasing the exercise, and maybe even going for a decent walk (not been able to do that for a couple of years or more) this coming weekend.
