Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
Bloody impressive! - did you notice the flames coming from the port engines just after the wheels touched the runway as the pilots applied full-power to those engines (and presumably full reverse thrust to the starboard ones) in an attempt to straighten the plane up. Didn't "quite" work and the plane ran off the left side of the runway, but stopped before any (hopefully!) damage was done!

PS: there was another clip of a cargo A330 landing a little later on and getting a "little bit wobbly" part-way down the runway - again stopped safely.

Is it my imagination or is the wind "getting up" again?

i think the rudder is flicked over at the last moment to straighten the plane up, then the areodynamics /windflow take over and keep the plane on the ground. i was on a landing like this once at gatwick, on the walk to customs we were the happiest/relieved passengers in the airport.

Another 'month of rain' expected today, just started here.

A site survey last week in West Horsley confirmed I will be unlikely to do any work in the field for a month or so.

What were you planning to do there?

OTOH, looks like you could have a very large ready-made fishing net if the water gets much deeper:-rofl2

It was to have been a pulley system for use in setting up a long wire.

When I visited the brook running near the entrance was already a torrent.

According to the locals the area is now completely submerged.

Storm Ellen is being mentioned today, though I don't think there is much chance this week.

The wind has been quite fierce for the past few hours here, woke me up

Whereas down here in the Vaucluse (yes I've escaped from Blighty for a brief holiday) the weather is glorious. The was some continuous rain a few weeks ago but it's mostly dried out. We came down hoping to be able to cut some branches on the trees at the very least but I think I might even be able get out and mow the grass!

On a related note, watching the TV this morning there was an OB report from Arrowe Park hospital. I can state with confidence that it's hissing down back home!

Snowy up here in't north east, between 4 to 6 inches of the stuff, though apparently the temperature's set to spike up to 8 degrees Modern Numbers by this afternoon so a sudden melting will be happening I'm sure...

Was having a good laugh at pathetic drivers on the road driving slower than walking pace, especially those in forbeefors, what's the point in owning those things if the driver's too scared to use 'em properly?? :-rofl2

But you have snow on the way, best mow the lawn quick whilst you can still see it.

So far today since I got up around 8 am we've had rain, snow, sleet, and then bright sunshine and moderately high winds from around 11am!o_O
