I have four cameras down the garden. One on the end of a 30 meter lan cable.Never any problems with that one.Three WiFi not so good.Problems keep cropping up. They are all about 25 meters away.I think that one of the problems is that the weather gets at the power connectors..They are not working now, I have reset the router, disabled UPNP.
I am going to hard wire them. I have purchased two 30 meter and one 40 meter cables. Also a four port POE injector. Not being up to speed with POE injectors I do not know what voltage and ampage I would need to inject. The first one that I will do is the 40 metet cable the camera is about 35 meters .For that I know that I can just plug its 12 volt one amp power supply in.However the next one will be one of the 30 meter ones.I will eventually get around to fitting the other 30 meter one up too.The question is what voltage and ampage would I need for two cameras then eventually three.I assume that more cameras would need more amps. The power plugs are all 12 v 1 amp.
Edit all four will be on the injector eventually.

Three cameras with voltage and power rated at 12 @ 1 amp, then a 3 amp 12 volt DC power supply would do quite nice.

One possible problem would be voltage drop on the 40 meter cable out to that camera, you might need to go bigger on the wire gauge for that one.

Or a variable power supply can help out, you can turn the DC voltage up to compensate for any drop at the camera end.

I use cameras that take 24 volt AC power, no drops on them.

Thanks Terryl. With so much cable I wondered about voltage drop.I will try a 12 v 3 or four amp power supply see if that works ok.If not I can always hard wire the power supplys to the cameras.ATM there are six 12 v 1 amp power plugs down the garden 4 cameras 2 ir lamps.I was thinking, seeing as I am running Lan cables to all the cameras I may as well get rid of 4 of those power plugs.

Yah, you cant get around ohms law with DC power, normal CAT5 lan cable has about 10 ohms of DC loop resistance per 100 meter's.

So with that you can get about 4 ohms of DC loop resistance on a 40 meter run, (loop resistance = one wire for the + and one wire for the -) now the cameras wont take all the amperes that the 12 volt 1 amp power supply can supply, so lets say they take 700 mA at full load, using ohms law you get about a 2.8 volt drop at that current level.

That may or may-not affect the camera at that end.

Now the little DC power dongles supplied with the cameras may not have very strict DC regulation, so they may have enough over voltage to handle this drop.

Why not run an armoured cable mains spur to the end of the garden ?

I do have power to the bottom of the garden.four of the power plugs are in the shed. Two in a waterproof box on the pergola where two of the cameras are.I just think that some of my problems are caused by damp getting into the power sockets on the cameras.I have cut the plug off one camera and hard wired it.That is an option for the rest.It would be better though if they were powered through the lan cables. It may just be that they are a bit too far away for the Wifi to work properly.

As I said in the first post. One of the cameras is already connected via lan cable.Tomorrow I hope to get one other connected.I will use the POE injector on those two.I should have a 12 v 2 amp power supply .Like most people I have a box full of the things.:)I will leave other two on power plugs for the time being.

40 metres should not be a problem for WIFI, 150 metres maybe.

I get coverage all over the ranch, but I have a 600 mW router, and a power booster on the outside antenna.

Make sure that the POE can handle the 1 amp, I have run into some that can only run at 500 mA.

An interesting CCTV-related facility said to be coming in the Spring 2020 update to Windows 10:
Windows 10 Is Getting Built-In Support for Network Cameras

Assuming that Microsoft manage to incorporate decent anti-hacking support, this could be a relatively cheap & easy way to set up an NVR-type CCTV system with any "ONVIF Profile S" cameras, but using, say, an old W10 PC, or even maybe a NAS, to store the video data instead being tied to a specific CCTV manufacturer's h/w & s/w, or risking the issues from those cheap, and very hackable, systems that all seem to come from a part of China that specialises in them!

I, for one, could be very interested in that approach as I have a Cat 5E system throughout most of the house, and could fairly easily extend it to the other parts using PoE feeds to the cameras, and the additional PLC link to the garage would make adding cameras down there relatively trivial.

BTW: I do have several Synology NAS units, but you can only connect 2 cameras to each one f.o.c. and the additional licences are around £50-£60 each - so, several £100s just for the licences for a comprehensive system, and one that is still tied to Synology tech.

The cynic in me wonders if this is just part of the whole face recognition stuff with big companies using access to CCTV to ID & profile people on cameras without their permission, integrating it into the OS itself, that just sets off alarm bells in my head...

I'll just stick to my system of using GeniusVision on my old Core2Duo PC that is also my Plex media server...

OK, I don't "understand" - but, then, I probably wouldn't!

BTW: what does "One Hour Photo" have to do with CCTV (in the current context!)?

During 11.11 sales, for only 41 EUR, purchased this camera (it came with 64 GB memory card). Man, I like it! It is controllable from cell phone and also PC. Possible to set alarm zones and get instant messages with picture and video about event. Also possible to instantly speak to the site via cell phone, for example to say via camera's loudspeaker something like " Hey, collect your dog's poo!". Quality of the picture day/night is good enough.
Add: Forgot to tell... when you buy in Aliexpress do not forget to ask seller to indicate value of the parcel less than 22 EUR, the, according to EU rules you will not be be obliged to pay additional taxes. IMG_20191202_145228.jpg

Recently I've go a new car 1575459258818a.jpg . First one who names the brand will get this nice twin LNB (brand news) for ONLY 5 EUR (shipping included). IMG_20191204_230703 (Large).jpg

@ "everybody" - an opportunity to "re-enter" this thread as I am now, finally (hopefully!??), going to get a system installed (biggest issue was finding someone who could install the "high-up" cameras for the PoE system that I want, but I think I have now found a guy who can do that) , but this has prompted the following "comment" and questions:

"Comment"
@RimaNTSS:
A very recent article in the major UK consumer protection organisation WHICH magasine (also called "WHICH") about "really cheap" wifi cameras that come from Shenzen in China (and are widely sold on Amazon, etc!): basically, most of them are "white box" products that are sold under multiple "brand names" with absolutely "SFA" backup tech support, and, most importantly, multiple unsecured "backdoors" into "your" LAN systems that are then open to spying/hacking or "whatever"!!

WHICH has a China-based investigator, which they trust, and who tried to find more about these suppliers and their products - but met "brickwalls" everywhere :(

Thus I, personally, would not go anywhere near CCTV products like that!

Question:
@
"everybody":
Has anyone had any "experience" with UHD kit sold under the "Reolink" brand (Chinese-based but with, so far, reasonably favourable reviews on Amazon, etc. and their tech support has responded very quickly and mostly sensibly to my questions over the last few days)?

SKODA KAMIQ or KAROQ?

Why? - because AFAIK you had a SKODA Octavia before, so why change the brand? :D

PS: Have a pretty old Octavia II, and the next car will almost likely be another SKODA :D

PPS: another cheap LNB would be very handy to have!:D

Have never had any SKODAs before, just a couple of OPELs (whatever you call them in UK :confused ) and several BMWs long time ago.
LNBF might be not so expensive but it is first of all brand new, and secondly TWIN :D

OOPS - my "mistake"! :(
PS: "All" SUV's look pretty much the same to me = "overly large" and ugly:(
