Well it has finally arrived came in from Germany. What a monster it is when you compare it with the 2.4m Fortec dish which of cause is a fraction of the cost of the Channel master. I paid for the Kingpost to come with it along with the Feedhorn. Myself and the Engineer have spent the last two days preparing the site and fixing the azel mount to the back of the dish.

Will require probably around 4 guys to lift the dish on to the mount which we will probably do just after Christmas weather permitting of cause. The dish will be around 11 feeet off the ground.Once it is fixed on to the stand we will take up a portable tv and receiver up to the top of the garden to see what kind of signal we are getting on Nilesat Horizontal beams, The cable will be over 100 feet long will this effect the signal quality or not guys?

I will let you know of the results as this will be my third dish - I must be crazy.

Good to see you got the kingpost as i like things done professional plus it will look good,

As for the cable as a broadcast engineer i have access to expensive cables like Andrews and to be honest for what you are going to use the dish for a good grade coax which has a copper core and copper grade will be good enuf eg wf100,

Also how much dish you pay for the dish feedhorn and king post and where did you buy it, If you need any advise for the dish just ask,

Guys just to confirm that if you are living in the Midlands in the UK you will be able to get Nilesat Vertical and Horizontal beams with a 2.4m Channel Master dish. I am using a Tecnomate 1500ci with a cm feedhorn and a universal single LNB 0.3db C120. Keano mate many thanks for your help and advice over the last few months, Are you using a quad lnb with yours? some people have said this one out performs the single version what do you think?

Here are the results Level around 48% and the quality is around 49% however I have noticed when it does rain the quality drops rapidly to around 37% which i then can get picture break up. Thanks also to other guys on this site who have contributed which makes it easier for other people getting this bird.:-sball

Great m8.

What transponder did you get your results on ?

Don't look at signal strength but signal quality.

Yes m8 I am using a invacom quad c120.

Main reason really is now I have 3 feeds to 3 db's, one in living room, one in conservatory and one in bedroom.

To say its better than the single its hard to say I didn't see much difference.

You still have a long run from dish to house ?

If so make sure you use some good cable like wf125.

Here now 11996H is on 62% on db, thats 2% more than I need for stable picture.

Its amazing just how weak this bird goes the further North you go in the UK.

m8 just seen your pictures, bit concern about the signal level for strength.

I know my technomate's always have about 80% plus for strength once you connect LNB even though dish is not in line, its the quality that you have to get as high as poss.

Keano mate - the quality is around 49% and does not drop unless we have heavy rain so we have the 11996 transponder all the time this is based on the Technomate on the advance search option where you can put in the appropriate transponders. The cable run didnt make much difference in the quality when we set it up at the top of the garden. What level and quality are you getting on the 11996h Transponder.

Have you tried the invacom 0.3single lnb and what is it like compared with the 0.3 quad.

Cheers mate.

Keano can you send over a screen shot of your advance search, may be your receiver readings are different to mine, as I have around 10 units to play with before i loose the picture.

m8 I was using my old trusty Techonmate DACI5500.

With this receiver the moment you attach the cable to the LNB the bars shoot up to about 80% and then go slightly up when you get a lock.

The signal quality shows zero % until you hit a sat, then it goes to a min of 20%.

To be honest I found the db better for fine tuning the dish.

I need to look at getting a remote meter one day.

It was bought from a company called Atrex do a google search mate and you will find it.

Message for Prodelin - Never received a PM from you so I couldnt reply so in future please do not be so abrupt. There are half a dozen people on this site who have spent a lot of time and effort ( they know who they are ) to try and give out as much information to other members about Nilesat.:confused
