can you show us where are you using that parts
In due course...

I'll be taking the dish down this weekend in order to lay the new concrete surface, so bought 12.5kg of cement and 2x 25kg ballast bags for that 4:1 mix. Earlier, there was a mention of adding washing up liquid - how much do I add? A cupful?

Took the whole thing down today. Will move the dish slightly to clear a bit of the neighbour's tree for 55e and, with any luck, 57e.

All was going well until I ran out of concrete. I *always* run out of it. What looks like way more than enough is actually only half of what's needed. Back to the orange shop for more cement and balast.... Will buy double what I think I need!

Just a good squeeze of " Fairy " or similar acts like " Febmix " makes the mix more usable and stronger when it bonds. Also may wish to think of a little extra sand in the mix, depending on the ballast mix, some do not have enough sand.

Finished the base but of course the cat had to "help" so it just has a load of paw prints in it. Will wait a few days before doing anything else on it.

Sorry no pictures except when it took it down yesterday.

Base laid with extra additional mount/anchor points. Probably don't need them all but better be safe than sorry! There's probably a tonne of concrete in there... Not straight but it works...

Next step will be to paint it with some green masonry paint (awaiting delivery - the orange boys didn't have green paint!) and start putting the the whole thing back together. Still waiting for galvanised bits to come back though, but hopefully this week.

So the base is painted and ready to be used.... however, I can't really walk over to it to put the dish on due to newly laid turf :(

Will be at least a week or so before it's going back up... but plenty of work to be done before it goes up anyway.

CJ,

The lawn will look very nice when the turf has become established, its a very pleasant view looking out over the field. It will be a lot of lawn to mow by hand.

It's not as big as it looks - about 15m by 8m. A petrol mower doesn't take longer than 15 mins here.

Spent most of the day pulling another 8 core cable through the conduit. Will use 3 of the cores for controlling the servo and the other 5 for a camera (hope that's enough!). There's no more room for another cable there...

Also started putting the mount back together, though I am still not supposed to walk on the new turf...

Pictorial evidence. Getting there. Still to add two more braces but, in all fairness, it's not really needed. But best be safe than sorry!

2017-05-14 18.26.50-2.jpg

My neighbour had yet another moan while I was working on it about how the dish is "getting higher and higher". Yes, you old hag, to clear your BUT (big ugly tree)... So trimmed the pole a bit to ensure the nosy bint keeps her trap shut and extra height won't really help as the tree is way higher than the dish would ever be.

More metal bits to buy and stuff to weld but nearly ready for a reinstall.

... tell her to do one!!
Yeah, right. Especially that we removed our tree that was blocking her view from the kitchen... Ungrateful.

On the flipside, the neighbours on the other side of the fence are commenting on good work on base and asking questions about the dish, rather than moaning about its appearance.

The kind of neighbours money just can't buy...
I have one who is feeling relief after feeling guilty for 15 years of putting up a TD110 on the Chimney.
The other side is more problematic - on the surface seems alright, but do take offence of a white carboard box on the back of my shed left in view from their patio...
Ah well - I think diplomacy and white whine is just what I need to settle things....

Taking shape now. Trimmed the pole by about 10-15cm to get the dish lower to the ground to keep the neighbours happy - doubt I will lose anything by doing so.

After working 14 hour days for the past week, I get a long 5 day weekend next week, so will put the dish up then. Weather is meant to be dry as well, so will be ideal.

Photos to follow.
