No, all switches must go after the motor.

It should go....Receiver>>>>>Motor>>>>>Switch>>>>LNB's.

I run my 1.1m dish motor after a DisEqC switch, and I know many others use such an arrangement successfully.

The other Ports are used for picking up feeds from both a 28.2E fixed dish and from a spare output on my 80cm motorised.

The potentially contentious issue was the ability of the switch to pass motor current but most are now rated for pass-through of slightly in excess of the max. current for an H-H Motor, plus LNB current.

Shouldn't be a problem.

I never run a switch before a motor, you could burn the switch output, the starting current on the motor (it can go far beyond the rating on the switch) could severely FUBAR a cheap switch.

I've had many a call backs with that type of setup, (customer demand for that type of setup) but you may have been lucky and used a better brand of switches then what we get around here.

It used to be a problem, but the quality of even cheap switches these days means we've had no reports of failures or collateral damage in systems where motor current passes through the switch.

In actual fact, most Receivers cannot source much more current than the switches are capable of passing anyway and if a situation arose where the current demand rose then the Receiver's short-circuit protection would operate.

Nevertheless, in the unlikely event of a switch failure, they are not exactly expensive items to replace.
