FWIW, I had a very old (genuine, I think because it was an early 1990's version!) Jaeger H-H motor with nylon gears and it worked pretty well for many years and never suffered that much backlash, but it was re-lubricated on at least one occasion . OTOH, would only buy a metal-geared motor nowadays.
