Hi CH My Torx screwdriver set came today so I was able to get the Battery out of the Sat Look but mine is smaller and not the same as your battery , mine is a Leader model number CT3,2 - 12 12v 3,2 Ah its size is 134 x 67 x 67 and yours PS-1270 Power-Sonic 12 volt 7Ah L151mm x W65mm x H94mmso . I can see now why you had to remover the speaker to get the power-sonic to fit but its much higher .From what I can see its high is to high so I wonder how you got the clamp to fit .

Why not have a look at the signals now, if you haven't dismantled the front end yet ?

I have not started to dismantle yet but I will check signal levels as a bench mark for when I rebuild with new arms on the way and with a bit of luck a replacement LNB coming but I will strip the corotor down and give it a clean up and respray on all exposed surfaces I must check and see if the skew motor is still working .

But its going to be fun on the top of the step ladder trying to remove the top support arm as I bet the nuts have seized on the old rods other wise it means cutting the nuts off with the dremel .

What about trying a couple of "molewrenches" - one clamped on a rod and the second on the relevant nut, and then pull the latter to try to simply shear that nut off the rod, or just strip the threads so the nut comes off?

You could check if you get any signal from the current quad LNB before any dismantling, it might be working.

As for removing the arms from the dish, always take them off the reflector first, which can be helped by tipping the dish onto its back and spraying the ends nearest the ground with good quality penetrating fluid a few days beforehand.

No stepladder required.

To give better access I have found it best to turn the dish to about 60 east but I will still need some thing to stand on to reach the support rod that come from the 12 o clock postion you have the others at 8 + 4 o clock those should be no problem to reach but after 30 years I bet there going to be seized up but first thing is disconnect both LNBs + Skew control then remove from the support rod band then use lots of WD40 other wise I think its best to use the dremel to cut the nuts from the rear of the reflector as I have access there to all 3 rods . But your rights lot + lots of WD40 .

The old LNB is working and giving a 80-85% signal on encrypted D2Mac channels I cant decode them but the signal is very strong . As far as finding a replacement Ku LNB I have found this one for £250 . I do not want to move the dish off the polar mount as it was a bugger to set and a very tight beam on Ku band , C band is ok nice and wide . As for the 36 inch Thomson Saginaw Actuator that just need rubbing down or use the dremel I did find a local spares dealer for thoses in the UK . It a pity none of you guys live local as I might need a help but I hope it should be straight forward " I hope " Well it took me 10 months to do all the maintenance on the tower but I hope I finish this before winter as while the arms are off I clean the dish up and respray it then the rest should fall into place .

Thanks again CH + J01for the feed back

No need to remove the dish from the mount, simply free off the elevation nuts after marking their positions and swing the whole dish skywards.

You should be near true south satellite before starting

Cap'n Jack will be very interested in those.

I mentioned 'good quality ' penetrating fluid, WD40 is not what I meant.

Yes I know what you mean on laying the dish flat but its a right pig getting the mount set up again , As the beam is so narrow this is why I think most people install a second jack for elevation . But so far I will keep the echostar for jack + skew and the Technomate TM-5402 for receiver until I can find some thing better .

Yes ok on pointing the dish south yes this is why it was set up on Sirius2-3 or these days its Astra 4A

Echostar AD-3600 - 1m motorised dish

Since we have the lock down in the UK I thought I would fire up the Sat system its a 30 year old Echostar AD-3000IP Viaccess with a 4m dish on a polar mount with a 36 inch jack . This system has not been used in 20 years but it was left on Sirius2_3 which I understand is now Astra 4A .From looking at the list on LyngSat there is allot of free channels but there format is MPEG-4 but the Echostar is only good for MPEG-2 MP does this mean I need to buy a new receiver ? Who makes a good sat system with motorised controler built in that can receive MEPEG-4 . Any thoughts from any one .

Looks like my story is much the same as yours Subman, what with all this lockdown decided to dig out my Echostar AD-3600 last Thursday 06 August 2020, fired it up but nothing, from what you have said, it looks like a format issue. I have a 1m motorised dish, I'm away at the moment but hope to take it down for examination and a clean-up next week. I have managed to find a picture on my camera which just happened to catch the dish, it's in a bad way, but I'm ure it will clean up.
Thing is unlike you I was never that well up on it all when I last used it about fifteen or more years ago, and a lot of what I knew has faded from my head. So, am I to take it my Echostar is a complete wash out on its own? I was hoping to access a Spanish station or three. --- I have found it interesting that the Echostar can still be used to control the dish, but sorry guys I'm right in the dark as to even the basics of how to set it up, and this is one that YouTube doesn’t appear to have an answer. It’s successfully got me doing most things the last being stripping down my laptop to fit a new CPU fan, but getting my Echostar to partner up with suggestions like an Octagon SX88, nothing. Need all the help I can get on this, like where to look for a start.Looks like my story is much the same as yours Subman, what with all this lockdown decided to dig out my Echostar AD-3600 last Thursday 06 August 2020, fired it up but nothing, from what you have said, it looks like a format issue. Spain (at least the Free To Air national services above Europe ) require a MPEG-4 compatible receiver.

The Technomate TM-5402 works ok for me useing the Echostar to move the Dish + Skew or now with the ASC1 but the only problem I have got is the SMW LNB but once SMW come back online after holidays I should know more .But as CH has said any MPEG -4 compatible receiver should do and just keep the Echostar to move the dish and Skew .
