Currently got the 1.1m Triax aligned on this one - although there doesnt seem to be much on it!

4 or 5 fta tv channels and an occasional feed seems to be about the level of interest.....

Very true - more feeds than channels, i remember setting up the 60cm on it last year in the garden, i could only receiver TV8 Mont Blanc and a test card!.

It's a pretty boring satellite. What's your reception of 31.5E like?

One things puzzles me on 33E - the Belsat freq12633V 2400 DVB-S2 8PSK is very poor indeed here - signal strength is bouncing up and down but is generally around 10%, and quite often drops lower. Yet the receiver gives a reasonable picture. (on the F3)

I would have expected this not to resolve anything much more than a smeary mess. There is some pixellisation at times. Normally the receiver doesnt like anything much less than about 40%

I was talking about africa beams , noting the Eutelsat 25.5 E africa beam, seeing as the 31.5E is african stuff.

Yep ditto, first to drop out but is resolvable with very low signal, that was why i hadnt found it before.

Low symbol rate and high error correction (2/3) means you can get away with a weak signal?

I think high error correction explains a lot about my reception of 68.5E. A fair few transponders I can get from there have an FEC of 1/2 and the signal has dropped as low as 28-30% yet been almost free from break up yet transponders with similar SR on other satellites but with lower forward error correction (typically 2/3 or 3/4) break up badly.

For what it's worth by the way, getting 12633V at 75% here on my 1m dish with TBS 8920 card.

I'm impressed that you can get 68.5E from York - elevation must be near enough 0° . Are you on top of a mountain (or what passes for one in England :) )?

Not quite :) The dish was installed at just above gutter level and, by some freaky coincedence, it appears I have almost clear line of sight to 68.5E due to the fact there is a park in the way and, thankfully, the trees don't block the signal at all. It's good to my west too as I've been able to get the transmissions recently detailed elsewhere from 61W too so have a very good range :)

Looks like 33A is being emptied out in readiness for the move to 31E. The Italian DTT streams are reported off air this morning and various other bits n pieces have gone in the last few days.
