I have a TM6900 and connected it to an 1TB Iomega Prestige USB HDD. Great setup when it works, I can use all the functions like record now, time shift and scheduled recordings.

When I put the TM6900 in to standby at night though, it seems to lose the connection to the HDD, and when it switches back on to record something on the timer, it thinks there's no HDD attached, and so the recording never happens.

I also find that if I switch the TM6900 back on in the morning it can't find the HDD. Swicthing on and off the HDD, causes it to be found, and things run normally. Does anyone know if this is a common problem, or if there's any way around it?

Thanks in advance, Sean

Hi Sean,

I have had that problem in general with some USB hard drives, especially if they are self powered. They are programmed to go to sleep after a set period of inactivity.

If you google prevent USB hard drive from sleeping or prevent spin down you find a few solutions - hopefully one of which will work for you.

Hope that helps,

Darren
