Tried one of these from China, approx
2inches x 2inches in size. It has no HDMI only the IF in and power, via any standard Android type power lead plus a LAN connection, but will also work on WiFi.
It is designed to work with any Android phone or Tablet, you have to install an App called DVBPlayer on the phone or tablet, plug in the Smart S" and open the app and that is it. All the installtion is done via the app also watching any channel you select. It will also work with UPNP via VLC player on the PC.
Works very well indeed, I could see this being very handy if you ever wanted to set up a dish and don't want to drag receivers and TV's outside. It will also work with the DVB finder App for more accurate dish setup.

Had a shock the other day whilst in the bedroom watching the other TV, (SWMBO was again watching bonnet TV) when I received a notification of a youtube video channel I am subscribed to on my phone which then said do you want to cast it to your Roku? Blow me it did, which totally shocked me although the aspect ration was incorrect, I was not aware a Roku could do this

Could be handy for Amateur DATV stuff, can you turn off LNB power on it? I can always make a DC blocker if not.

And yes quite handy for installation, I should imagine it will run off a powerbank?

Ah the LNB power would need to be off all the time as I'd be using a Yagi. No bother making a DC blocker though.

Been looking at these as they are only £25 on Aliexpress at the moment, one question I have is can it be connected directly to a tablet or a PC, the information on the product listing states it requires good internet speed for DVB Player to work, but will work fine with DVB Finder without internet.

I cannot understand why internet is needed?
I was thinking about taking one camping so I can take a dish with me and use a tablet or laptop.

It needs the internet to stream to a phone or tablet as it has no HDMI output for direct connection to a TV. Will work on Bluetooth if no internet is available, so that would be your camping option...

Surely it should have just been able to connect to a tablet or phone itself via WiFi. Or at most a router with no internet.

Seems suspicious that it requires the internet, would like to know if it can work with out it.

Bluetooth would be the satfinder part of it, bluetooth hasn't enough bandwidth for video.

Only requires the internet if you watch on your phone away from your LAN. I can keep an eye on the feeds at work.

So it will definitely work with no internet? If so that will be perfect for camping.

Never say never. The current incarnation can cast still images and share quite large files. All that is required is for the time constraints to be relaxed which will come sooner rather than later, potentially with quantum technology.
