Good afternoon
Just noticed that I only received an email notification about Paul's 10.19 (or thereabouts) post No 12 on this thread at around 12.40, and thus there was over a 2hr "lag" - is that normal, or is something not quite "right" ATM?

Paul, Gordon

Think you are almost certainly right about the issue not being at your end - after making the first post, I then had some "serious" problems this afternoon (U3A presentation, and the laptop wouldn't then work until I re-seated both drives & the RAM :( ). Had more problems when I got home but, I have now, I think/hope, found and sorted the issues - mainly "junk" and registry files - using System Mechanic. Seems to be running reasonably well again now.

Sorry to have raised a false flag - but your responses did help me narrow the problems down to the laptop by eliminating some other possibilities.

It also depends on your mail service. The aurora warning service I use had to stop support of Yahoo addresses recently because the mail alerts were routinely being held up for hours & people were missing the auroral activity.

I remember that there was period of time when no notifications sent at all. Actually, I was happy about that..... first of all, I think, there is not such a hurry at all, and secondly, I visit the forum every time I use internet :) And I am online most of the times anyway. For me, first site I open, when I open the browser, is satellites.co.uk, that is the fact of life.

"Blueyonder.co.uk"/Virginmedia.com are generally pretty good in that respect - very occasional problems, but not many
