Every day ..a new food scare ..
Now they tell me the way I eat my toast is bad for me ..
Is burnt toast a health risk? - BBC News
Personally I hate underdone toast and much prefer it bordering on burnt..
I actually like that slightly carbonised taste.
Takes me back to my yoof ..and toasting bread with a fork over an open coal fire.
So far so good at any rate.
I'm not yet dead and I love my toast.
I pity anyone who goes in hospital and has activated charcoal pumped into their gut ..but probably _that's_ ok ..cos it isn't a regular occurrance.
How do you like your toast ?
Black-ish ...Brown ..Golden..or pale warm bread threatened with the toaster ?

Not just toast; but crispy roast potatoes.

I take all these food "health scares" with a huge pinch of salt. Something that's also bad for you apparently.

I eat everything but in moderation and exercise regularly. Kept me alive so far.

As for toast - a nice golden colour. Burnt gives it a bitter to me taste.

Ahh ..but there's the rub ..
The BBC highlighted what they called 'golden' toast with an arrow during the piece..
It looked more like underdone bread held about a foot away from the toaster..

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

I like mine golden brown, hate the burnt taste, but then I also hate marmite too, which I'm sure they'll say it causes cancer of the fingernail soon I bet...

Except for the odd ciabatta, I only eat brown bread and usually the darkest rye I can find.

I shall be digging a 6' deep pit later this week, if I haven't departed before then.

Actually, this isn't anything like "new" news. It's long been known that overcooked (burnt!) food contains carcinogenic chemicals. Warnings about barbecue food go back years. Trouble is it's so delicious...

If I had a penny for every food scare etc... :). The first I can remember is Edwina Curry's egg-gate. During the height of the BSE scare I think I ate Chicken McNuggets rather than Big Macs (I was a salad-dodging student at the time) for about one week. Like @Captain Jack says, not dead yet :)

She can't be as bad as my other half, uses the smoke detector as a kitchen timer.

She has a propensity for toasting bread under the oven grill....so usually one side is brown while the other side resembles a recently extinguished forest fire...
