This is my first time trying to setup a 7.5FT Laser polar mount dish. I bought down this from USA. I need help with Declination Angle . My current location is south Asian country.
below are my GPS location coordinates.
Latitude: 6.86
Longitude: 79.89
And my nearest true south satellite is Thaicom 5/6/8 : 78.5°E
pls tell me how to get the Declination Angle for my location?

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

elevation to the satellite would be 81.76 degrees

1.04, but you do not need to know anything but your latitude to determine this figure.

how to get the Declination Angle for my location?
When you find out exact angle, what you will do with that? When I tune polar-mount I do not really care what is Declination angle.

My Satellite Setup
OpenBox X5 on a 1 meter motorized dish.
And now a 10 foot "C" band dish.

Custom built PC
My Location
Deep in the Boonies in the central Sierra Nevada mountains of California.
Is this a solid or mesh dish?

If a solid dish then it is going to collect water and leaves (and maybe birds and other critters) as it is almost pointing straight up.

A mesh dish would work out better, it wont collect the water.

I have a mesh dish. I was having hard time tracking the full Clarke belt. it tracks only few birds that lined up span of few degrees. These US built polar mounts has limitations. First I had to modify the elevation bolt holder because it was restricted. I was only able to span it up to around 70 degree. Since I need almost 90 degrees I had to modify that . Now I have to extend the bolt that control declining angle as well to get the correct Declination angle.

OK, declination angle for your location is about 1* (look it up HERE ) . But I still do not understand how knowing this figure so precisely can help you rebuild your polar-mount
Some picture of your installation site can help understanding.
BTW (I am sure you know it) your nearest true south satellite Thaicom 5/6/8 : 78.5°E is away from your true south for about 10*.

Currently my declination angle is about 5°. I think that is why its not tracking the belt ? I saw somewhere my true south satellite is the one which is very close to your location Longitude. My Longitude is 79.89 so the closest satellite 78.5°E is I am wrong ? pls let me know how to find it ?

At least dishpointer.com shows that it is ~11* away from your south.

how you came up 11°.
Simple- direction from your location towards satellite is 191.5* (I circled it in yellow), but your true south is 180*. So, when you extract 180 from 191.5 you get 11.5* discrepancy. By saying that, I am pretty sure that it is possible for you to chose another satellite to be your true-south. This is very important when you try to tune up polar-mounted dish. Do you have some pictures from your antenna? Could you show them?
