Hello all
Trying to setup my Humax box for the umpteenth time here in central France with no joy. Whilst I am pointing correctly at Astra 2D (have checked with Lyngsat) I do not appear to be picking up transponders 11427 or 11428. Freeview channels ok and all of the other transpoinders seem to be as per the Lyngsat list. As a result I'm not picking up the postcode database so come to a juddering halt. Can anyone out there advise what I need to do - for instance to I have to manually add the transponder details, or replace the LNB? My Humax is around 2-3 years old, but have no problems with my older cheapo freeview boxes.
Have searched around the forums but to no avail on this particular matter so apologies if someone las already answered the question.
thanks
Tom

Welcome.

11.428h is certainly the freesat data transponder required for installation of your receiver. This frequency is shared by both polarities so well worth checking the LNb, in particular the skew [cross polar rejection].

Freesat Data TP is on Eurobird .............. although a 90cm should see 28.2 E and 28.5 E no problem where you are, it may be that it is aligned a tiny bit too far west, so is getting 28.2E but struggling with 28.5e.

A tiny tweak eastwards might do the job.

That said, you say other boxes see it, so I'm a bit stumped.

I'm struggling a bit on this too. I take my HDR down to the Vaucluse and run it on a 75cm dish without any problem. Outside thought, check that your operating software (in the setup menu somewhere) is the latest HPRSFCI 1.00.13 (for HDR) or HZPTSF 1.00.26 (for HD).

Otherwise it sounds like it might be a faulty receiver.

EDIT

Do you know what model of LNB is fitted? Humaxes do have some issues with a few makes of LNB.

Is this a new problem BTW?

Hi PaulR
Am in the UK at present, in France next week. But it has never worked for freesat (freeview is ok) so haven't been able to download anything, including the latest software release. Can't remember the software version, but I recall that it is older than the corrent version as I don't yet have the fix to sort the hidden character at the end of the postcode input field. WIll try jigging around with the LNB skew angle: I also have a spare LNB so will replace it and see what happens.

11428 is outside the normal interference prone frequencies but try turning off any dect phones (pull the power plugs out of the wall for all the base units), & turn any wifi routers off as well just in case they are causing the problems.

Freeview is the digital terrestrial platform. Assume your referring to the bbc/itv programming etc.

Try the skew adjustment or swap out the LNb. As mentioned, the Humax receiver does have issues with some LNb's.

Buy an Inverto Black Ultra LNB which will reduce noise in the system, and it has excellent cross polar rejection.

Make sure you can receive Men & Movies on 11426 H, it is the only channel broadcasting alongside the Freesat data streams.

Hi all and thanks to those that responded. Went back to la belle France last month, powered up the Humax, and lo - found Men and Motors, so carried out a rescan and I now have Freesat, and managed to download the latest software. So a little bird must have s___ on the LNB when I was away sufficiently to tweak in into position :-)

Was the Humax switched off at the mains (NOT in standby from the remote control) for all this time? Has it been back to UK and used here, perhaps?

Still, good to hear that everything's OK now.

Hi Paul, the box was switched off at the mains and hadn't been to the UK.Hence my assumption about the bird:p
