I quite fancy trying my c120 LNB/s on a raven feedhorn, as I have seen numerous reports that they outperform the Gibby feedhorn on a Gibby 1.5m dish. But I don't fancy paying the 85 quid that SSS want for one on their site, so was wondering if anyone had one lying about not being used and would be willing to part with it :)
Would be willing to receive and return one if someone was up for lending theirs, obviously I would pay both carriage fees ;)

What does a Raven feed look like and is it designed for a specific dish size ?

Strong 4375 driving a 2.4 m Channel Master dual focus offset + Invcom Quad C120 K/U l.n.b. + BSC 421 and Zinwell C band l.n.b.,s - DR HD F15 - TM5302 - Octagon SX88+Optima - GT Media V7 - HD receivers. + other dishes currently in use - Antique 3.0 m Prodelin P.F. - Channel Master 1.8 m offset - Channel Master. 1.2 m.

North West Yorkshire - near Lancashire & Cumbria borders.
I would also agree in general with scopus ... .. certainly that,s my experience with 1.2 and 1.8 channel masters .. but not the case with the 2.4 c.m.
I have both the feeds pictured by Moonbase and C.H. see picture .. .. the large feed on the 2.4 dual optics dish is as expected - poor on the 1.2 and 1.8 channel masters.
Although i do not want to sell the regular C.M / Raven . feed that i have here - i,m happy to let you try it on your dish setup @Dave5118
I see you are located near Manchester - How Near ? .. i.m due a trip to Salford and Didsbury in the near future
Regards - nelson.b.c.m.jpg

p.s. i have the necessary spacers for the feed for a normal 40 mm holder .

A thread - from a few years back - that suggests the CM type might not be the best option.

andrews feed horn big dissapointment
It's not for a Raven/CM dish though, some people have had better results using it on a Gibertini 1.5 versus the Gibertini feedhorn. An IBU outprforms the Gibertini feedhorn from testing before, but my IBU has developed a fault( no/low signals from 12500 - 12750 region).
I have an inverto quad c120 i want to try again, as really need 3 feeds, so was curious about the raven feedhorn.

Thanks Nelson, I'm about 13 miles east of M'cr(Glossop), but do work close to the centre, in Audenshaw.
This is the one a SSS, looks a bit different.

Hi -
The SSS / Raven one appears to have a sealed front end cap , like my 2.4 feed has ..

My old c.m. 1.2 / 1.8 feed has a removable cap .. i may be wrong, but i suspect they are the same internally.

I know Glossop better than Audenshaw as i lived there for 18 months .. but both are just off the M60 on my route to Didsbury .. :)

:) I guess dropping it off at my works would be more suitable to you, it's only about 2 mins from the Denton rock roundabout.

i will p.m. message you via the forum to arrange address details etc ...

You never completely know till you try with dishes feeds and l.n.b,s etc ... sometimes you get an unexpected good result :)

@Dave5118 If you wish you can try feedhorn I have. It has never been installed, came with 1m VSAT Prodelin. That Prodelin has ~58* opening angle (F/D equivalent 0.97).

Cheers Rimansu, but it says on the gibertini website the F/D of the 1.5m is 0.66. Would that be big a difference.

I do not know what will be the difference. I also do not know what did they mean by F/D=0.66  Especially what they mean by "F" .... Is that distance from the Focal point to exactly where?
Forgot to tell that F/D equivalent of Channel Master antenna is 0.68

There are usually two ratios in the offset world , 0.6 and 0.8 these equate to 51 and 39 degrees respectively, which is the aperture angle.

The Channel Master and Prodelin designs offer one or the other, and when fitted with a subreflector the 0.6 design magically becomes a 0.8.

Some offset dishes fall within the two, older Prodelin receive dishes (50 degrees) and a host of horrendous designs from southern Europe, hence the need for a matched feedhorn, which rarely fits the feed clamp.

This is why some can get the best signal with a generic LNBF using existing mounting points, and some experiment to find the best offset angles and use a proper feedhorn for the job.

Thanks for the offer Rimansu, but it's a long way to send it to find it's not compatible. If the Raven doesn't improve things, I'll go back to an IBU I think. Certainly prefer the look of a c120 combination compared to the IBU though, looks more professional :D

Yes, it looks maybe professional but performance-wise it is not always the case. I think that IBU is nice choice. And, do not believe Gibertini that they made feedarms and LNB-holder perfect (nobody is perfect). Measure your dish, calculate position of the Focal point, offset angle. Place LNB in such a way that it's Phase center is co-located with antenna's Focal point. Only then you will be able to get maximum of your installation.
