I have for far too long manually edited my satellites.xml file using wordpad.

Which free graphical and/or text based .XML editor software programs do you find the most useful?

Dreamboxedit from the Llama guys is usually the one to have, I've been using it for 10 years and it is really good.

P.S. How about updating your profile with a few infos about your system, that makes it easier to answer your questions :)

I've used dreambox edit for years, I hadn't noticed you could edit the satellites.xml file with it I'll take another look.

Yes your absolutely correct it does have that editing use as well.

I only used dreamboxedit to back up my dreambox before.

I watch to much tv.. but I will get around to updating my profile soon. ;-)

Thanks

You might want to have a peek at this website, there you can generate a brand new up to date satellite.xml using just the sats you are interested in, might be worth a play. Remember - always back up your original settings before starting to play :)

Thanks I've been there many times. (not realising Huevos involvement)

What I've been doing is physically editing my satellites.xml file and taking out those entries I'm not interested in and adding in feeds as an when I find them from this forum and others. z.B. _ satelliweb.com u.a.

Currently my satellites.xml file is where it should be but I'm looking to find a nicer way of "editing it" not creating it.

Thanks for that, yes I've seen that, what I do is constantly (almost daily) delete transponders and add new to suit my viewing preferences. I don't rely on others pre-made lists. So what I want is a "nice" .xml graphical or text based editor which I can use as an alternative to using wordpad. I have tried Scalc and M$ excel but they are a sledge hammer to crack a nut.

Perhaps I should clarify a bit... I know that with dreamboxedit I can add services and do some manipulation.

My method of work is to have a version of satellites.xml in my dreambox and a copy of it on my computer.

While I'm watching television I'm like probably millions of others often surfing. I have several RSS which notify me of feeds and other interesting stuff.

I take this information and physically add it to the copy of satellites.xml on my computer.

Depending on whats on TV and whether I'm bothered I transfer this file to my dreambox and take a look at the feed or whatever.

So its the "off-line editing" of the satellites.xml file which I'm concerned with not just simply zapping an original and putting in a new one, or adding services from only one list. Thanks for the interest I hope that this clears up what I'm looking for.

Anyone else got any suggestions?
