A client has moved property this week to a flat that has only one cable in. They have taken their SkyQ box and one Q mini with them from the old apartment.

I can change the Single LNB for a SkyQ version, but is there a way for the Q box to take both polarities down one line from the roof ?

I sure I will also have an issue with the diplexed terrestrial but that can be addressed later, unless somebody advises if there is a way to include it since the Qbox is a priority.

If it helps this is the newer terrabyte unit with a shedload of recordings on it, I really don't want to play with the settings if it can be avoided.

Thanks in advance

From the installer menu, you can put it in SCR mode if that's any help?

EDIT:
Found this on a quick search,

Yes, but that's if the apartment has a dSCR feed.

If you have a roof space that you can get the cable from the dish into, then put a wideband LNB on the dish, cable into the loft and then use one of these converters, it allows the combining the aerial feed. JOHANSSON SFU dCSS Switch Sky Q™

EDit, you can also install externally, it comes with a weatherproof box, would appear to tick all the boxes. If the dish has a single LNB, it'll be an old model sky minidish or a standard 40mm mount, so you may need to get a 40mm wideband LNB.

Ahhh, was thinking you could just swap out for a SCR LNB(inverto or similar) and use it as standard SCR. Dunno anything about communal use tbh.

There are SCR LNBs available, I have a bag full in my garage, but they don't work with all Sky Q boxes, hence why I have a bag full.:)
CH is welcome to try one if he likes.:)

However, if the flat is part of an IRS system, it may well be a feed from a dSCR, if not, then there are converters which can be fed by four feeds off a conventional multiswitch.

Thanks, something to contemplate.

Yes the dish is old, not part of a distribution system and was originally feeding a Sagemcom Freesat box that the previous tenant had for years.

It never gave trouble, as did the terrestrial link for his Freeview television, though he never used it. The diplexers are Televes from memory, I fitted them well over fifteen years ago.

Do you have the specifications of the SCR LNBs and why their tolerance is something to look out for ?

Too bad you cant use a "Band Stacking" LNB,(both H and V polarity's down one coax at the same time, using a second higher band for one polarity, and the standard band for the other) we use them here stateside, but the receiver needs to be able to use two LO frequency's to work with them.

Then a diplexer at each end for the terrestrial signals.

We use them here as well, although with the Wideband Sky Q LNB, the Terrestrial band is used for Satellite, so you can't diplex the terrestrial.

@Channel Hopper Here's the link to a different unit by Global-Invacom, wasn't available when I did my jobs, would have saved a lot of money had it been, as the ones I used were £70 each plus a PSU and inserter and this one is £25 plus VAT with a power inserter and PSU at around £25, if you are registered with Alltrade.:) GLOBAL Universal dCSS LNB Ultra Small Size

Should be an easy fix as long as the diplexer passes the commands for SCR. :)

Does it have SCR capability?

Been looking at one for my gaff in the UK ( when I get back there ) , uses a wideband lnb, not sure if that´s the same as a Sky Q lnb. There is a link from this page to a pdf manual, hence I found out it needs a wideband lnb to record 4 things at once.

On reading the manual there is no mention of SCR, whilst it does mention every other type of LNB, interestingly they say that a Hybrid LNB will only work as a universal, so they've missed a couple of tricks and excluded people on IRS systems from the full potential of the box.

Hi Channel Hopper

I had the same situation in my property and the most economical solution I could find was to buy from eBay a quad (or octo) sky lnb to feed an external Unitron DCSS-422. You can get the latter on eBay new for around £20 or cheaper. There are also similar units from triax and vision.

The unit needs 18-20v, I used an old laptop power supply.

As mentioned you then set the sky q box to dSCR mode and have a single cable feeding it. It is working flawlessly plus you can move your skyQ box anywhere in your house provided the rooms have a single coax.
