I have a NextBase TVMS 7.0 portable TV with an inbuilt Lithium battery which is failing. Numerous web searches have said that a replacement battery is no longer available. Can anyone recommend or suggest a source of cells to enable me to make my own replacement. Prefereably Lithium cells but I could probably make do with NiMH cells. I have not yet opened up the TV so cannot yet quote size of internal battery. TV works well with mains adapter or external 12V power pack.

Have you taken the battery out yet? If not you'll need to. Is it a collection of cylindrical cells? The most popular size seems to be 18650 as used in numerous applications such as vaping, the Tesla car, Li-ion battery packs for power tools, etc.

List of battery sizes - Wikipedia

I bought a bunch of 18650 cells with solder tags from Ecoluxshop firstly using Ebay and then, for a larger order, directly. I paid by PayPal both times. He was very helpful to start with but I think I overwhelmed him with questions (I was on a steep learning curve) as he became unresponsive after a while. I did eventually complete my order with him by simplifying my request right down to basics. He apologised and blamed the amount of work that he was doing.

There are various battery capacities(especially on the 18650) available but I would stay with what's fitted originally. There is a temptation to upgrade but you don't know how the charge/discharge circuitry will behave if you do. Equally you may find that the exact type of lithium battery is not available and you will have to replace with an equivalent type. If you tell Ecolux what they are for he can advise what to use.

There's your starter for reading here Lithium-ion battery - Wikipedia and there's loads more out there.

I have a 7" DVB-T2 portable TV by NOT ONLY TV
It has a lithium battery of 2 cells of 1300mAh each
The model number and some markings on the batteries are as follows
T573396L-2S
HY1007-120704
No idea who is the manufacturer, but I hope that this will help you if you do a Google search.
Good luck

I did consider buying direct from the far east myself but a few things stopped me.

First is the fact that there are a lot of fakes and cells marked as a much higher capacity than they actually are. Secondly you run the real risk of having to pay import duty (and possibly the Post Office's handling fee) for orders with a value of over about £15. The latter would probably not a problem for two cells but then you may come up against a minimum order requirement.

Restrictions of flying in certain batteries has been in place for quite some time.

Amazon.com Help: Requirements for lithium batteries and products that ship with lithium batteries
Yes Amazon does have this requirement when ordering batteries.
I had a bad experience last year when I ordered from Amazon Germany few NiMH batteries and other items.
They wouldn't allow the order to fly and returned the whole package to Amazon, without telling me why.
After several emails, I was told about the battery restriction.
On the other hand, I did order from eBay Energizer and Varta batteries, and they shipped everything on more than one occasion, without any problem.
I doubt if AliExpress will not ship any batteries orders by Airmail (perhaps not using FedEx or DHL).
When people are airborne, they all have mobiles, laptops, tablets which all work on fully charged batteries.
They reason that if a battery catches fire in the passengers area, then it is easy to distinguish, but if a parcel catches fire or explodes, well they will know about it when they airplane blows up in mid air.

I have Panasonic NCR18650B bought from dx in my vaping device and flashlights. They are not the cheapest and I trust them to be the real thing.
They have allegedly three protection circuits in them: Over-current, over-charging, and under-voltage.
I have dedicated two of them for vaping which have constantly been discharged and recharged for the last two years and they are still performing well.

Try Digikey or Mouser, they sell lithium batters of all sizes, some have solder tabs so you can make up your own battery pack.
