My Satellite Setup
Commercial satelite system which has LNB with with 2 vertical and 2 horizontal outputs which distribute to 22 sky Wi-Fi boxes
My Location
Offshore in the southern North sea, approx 100 miles off the Yorkshire coast
Help!...I'm by no means a comms or satellite expert but won the task of looking after an entertainment system offshore on a gas platform. From what I can see, it's a Quattro lnb to a Spaun switch with 24 outputs to 22 sky hd+ boxes. We can receive majority of sports channels, some in HD but struggling to receive virtually any movie channels in either as or hd. Tried moving dish slightly but seems to be in best position and still can't get mostly movies. Anyone got any suggestions of where to start fault finding. Many thanks for any info.

Hiya - welcome to the forum. These "commercial" setups are a bit outside the scope of the forum but we will try to give some ideas.

What size & shape of dish are you using? (eg circular / oval)

Has anyone been dicking around with the lnb skew (twist). If its a circular dish then the lnb needs to be set so the cable exits are at roughly "7 oclock" when you are standing in front of the lnb arm facing the dish.

My Satellite Setup
OpenBox X5 on a 1 meter motorized dish.
And now a 10 foot "C" band dish.

There are several other things to look into, one would be where you are in the satellite(s) footprint, if too far away from the prime footprint for that transponder you may need a larger satellite dish then a land based setup for the same satellite.

As this is an off shore setup it could be that the dish and LNB are covered by seagull droppings, a good cleaning of the dish and the eye of the LNB would/could help a bit.

Next would be the type and quality of the coax coming down from the LNB, again as this is an off shore setup the connections are exposed to salt, this can cause all sorts of problems if the connections are not weather tight, a quick inspection of all outdoor connections would be a must, any connection that has salt water intrusion should be replaced and properly water proofed.

If the coax is of the copper coated steel center conductor type it could have excessive rusting of the center conductor,(possible due to a cracked PVC jacket) this type of coax center can be tested with a small magnet, if it sticks to the center conductor it's possible that the signal is dropping due to internal corrosion, the run of coax should be replaced if that looks to be the problem.

Next possibility could be the switch, the model number would help us a bit, is it an externally powered amplified one?

Awaiting for more info from you...

Can you please post the names, frequencies, and polarities, of the channels you can receive, and there signal quality levels.
It could be that you are receiving Horizontal channels, but not vertical channels, or, as the quattro produces vertical high, vertical low, horizontal high and horizontal low, it could be any part that's not working correctly.

Could well be a polarisation issue, lnb or cables not correct at switch and or feed.
