HI there.

I have a Technomate satellite receiver, a 5402, that lets me hear German and French radio on 19.2E The problem is that a picture is displayed but no sound. It's connected via HDMI but I've checked the cable and that's not the problem. I've also tried connecting the dish to an older Technomate that only has a SCART connection via a SCART to HDMI converter, and that hasn't worked either. I've also tried the new box with SCART to HDMI for the sake of covering the bases but no joy there.

The strange thing is that the setup was working fine recently and then the sound disappeared from both boxes. We haven't had any bad winds that could have moved the dish slightly so I'm at a loss as to what could be the problem.

Can anyone help with this?

A dish moving would not keep the audio from being heard on the TV, check the receivers remote to see if there is a "Mute" button on it, try pressing it several times to see what gives.

If this is not the case, then have your tried other HDMI inputs on the TV? Or checked to see if somehow the TV's speakers have somehow been shut off or muted in it's menu?

Does the TV have sound with an off air signal?? (if possible at your location)

I have suffered the same problem several times over the last year on my Toshiba 40" TV (8 or so years old and heavily used) - on all inputs and internal tuner. A factory reset/new installation cures the problem for the next month or two. What could the cause be - failing component/memory chip?
