Telenor extends simulcrypt with CA Videoguard
CNBC, DW English, Eurosport 1 HD Norway, Eurosport 1 HD Swerige, TV3 are encrypted with Videoguard systems ( CAID 093E and 0940) on the frequency 10.809 GHz, position H, SR 25000, FEC 3/4, DVB-S2 / 8PSK. HD Denmark, TV3 Sport HD Denmark.
On the same frequency of 10.809 GHz with reverse polarization (vertical), SR 25000, FEC 3/4, DVB-S2 / 8PSK, the Videoguard system also encodes TV3 MAX HD, Viasat Hockey HD Swerige, Viasat Sport HD, Viasat Sport Premium HD and Viasport 1.
The connection of the Videoguard CA system to the programs on the Thor 5 , Thor 6 and Thor 7 (0.8 ° W) satellites is linked to the plan of the DTH service providers Canal Digital and Viasat to provide television services to customers in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark from a single orbital position - 0.8 degrees west. The agreement was introduced last autumn. We are now waiting for the green light from market regulators.

Thanks for heads up :)
They ve started to test it like two months ago on a test channel, but i dint realize that they ve extend it to other channels :) Great!
This is a great news for Viasat's custommers, they ll get much better content after migration from Astra 4,8E. We CanalDigital cutommers, we have now cheaper sport channels, an UHD channel + Viaplay thanks to this "marriage"

I dont think that they (Telenorsat/CD) will leave Conax, it will be opposite. Telenor is the ex-owner of conax systems. And it is pretty deep penetrated in their organisation. Conax is everywhere here in Scandinavia. Telenorsat and CD, they have for sure a good agreement with the new owner of Conax too. Better rights, technical support ext.. Why should they pay to another company? in this case Videoguard NDS.

Simulcrypt will be there at least two years. They (CD and Telenorsat) have much better hardware - Android based OnePlace. And CD gradually and easlily can phase out Viasats receiver.

Yes I'm pretty sure they will keep Conax and leave Videoguard after some time (maybe two years as you say). Present Viasat customers will probably have to change their small dishes to a slightly bigger one since especially Thor 7 is a bit weaker than Astra 4A and SES 5.

no, i dont think so. Let me to explain why, cause one of my antennas is selfsat 50D and it was sitting behind my balcony window for a year ago. i had great reception on Thor (both nordic and other coverages) but Astra was much weaker and it was not stable. And if you can check the power EIRP levels and coveage maps youll see that Thor is just a bit better. Satbeams says so :) which is true in my experience

Does this apply to Baltic channels currently on 5E? I suspect not as those are no longer branded as Viasat (for the most part).

In this case everything is about merging Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT - Viasat DTH and Viaplay Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland) and Canal Digital DTH (Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland) to one company / operator. im not 100 % sure but i believe that Baltic channels will stay on Astra.

In this text (only in Swedish) it says Viasat customers with smaller dishes will have to change them to slightly bigger ones.

here is his answer down below. It means that Viasat s parabol is a piece of garbage :). There is nothing wrong with the Thor satellite(s) and the power level. I assume that you can swedish. Kan du?

Den senaste modellen av Viasat-paraboler levererar nån eller ett par dB lägre MER-värde än Triax TD64 som Canal digital använder.

Jag gjorde faktisk en koll av detta den 2 februari som du kan läsa om här >>>

When will all channels from 5e move to 1w? Though I suspect they'll just go for the full rebrand of all channel.

Channels are already on Thor. If you mean Viasat channels like Viasat Cinema, Gold ect.. they are also on Thor since january-february.
viasat customers will lose nothing. They ll get more channels and content + much better signal and hardware.

Yes "V" will replace the Viasat brand.
