What encryption does it use? If it's a workable project is it just a case of buying the relevant CAM for you?

I can get a CAM/Card combo for £99 on the open market or maybe cheaper privately.

But I ain't shelling out a ton without being 100% confident of success ................

Pfah ideed!

Adventure is fine, but I live off a small Pension!

Took it early while I still have the ability to enjoy it, so it's reduced ................

The one thing I do know about the card & CAM combo is this, they work in Panasonic Freesat TV's in non Freesat mode, the CAM also works in the Technomate 6900 series & with the later no official firmwares the Nagra 3 card works in the recievers card reader directly, I do remember there were receivers of different makes that would simply freeze up o.ce the Tivu CAM was inserted though this shouldnt happen as tbe CAM should work in any receiver with a CAM slot as the CAM is not a CAM+ product so should work in any receiver with a CAM slot.

That's useful, GL.

I have Googled to bu**ery, but not a single solitary soul can say "I have a Foxsat HDR with a fully-functioning TivùSAt CAM/Card".

Your reply is getting darned close though.

Thanks again.

No problem, I've always had a interest in getting the card & CAM combo myself but the pricing has always been absolute rip through u.k. dealers, but more recently the pricing has become more realistic. From what I remember the card & CAM are not paired unlike the Polsat Nagra 3 I own & operated in the god awful Fortec Passion HD.

I have also been interested in setting this up and this week finally decided to take the risk and give it a go. I bought a TiVu card and CAM in Italy while on holiday and activated it online. Plugged it into the HUMAX FoxSat HDR, switched to Non-Freesat mode and La7, Boing, Rai 4 and so on all suddenly worked. Great.

Last night my wife and I were really happy.

Problem is that it doesn't work today, and I can't figure out why not. I haven't done anything different as far as I can tell, but no matter what I try it doesn't want to work any more.

I'll figure it out and post the solution when I have. At least I know it can work, somehow....

Go back online and check that the status of your card is 'active'.

I've just about given up. It works about one time in 10 and I can't find a pattern. Having a USB memory stick attached seems to help, but it is basically random.

Next step is to borrow a friends foxsat HDR and see if its any better.

I have another receiver and it works perfectly in that.

This is the final post from me I guess. The card still works sometimes, but it is not at all reliable. I get exactly the same behaviour in my friends Foxsat HDR, so it's not broken. I've tried all available firmware versions, including custom firmware. To make it 'most likely' to work, I have the following procedure, but even then it's at best 1 in 5.

Turn device on
Tune to an encrypted Tivusat channel
Turn device off
Plug in a USB key (at the front) - I discovered this because I have left it plugged in after upgrading the firmware
Put the CAM in (but the card in upside down - i.e. image up)
Turn on (I have only had it work when switching it on at the front, not with the remote, but I don't know if that is relevant)
Device will (sometimes) start and say that the TiVuSat card is in upside down
Turn card around and it works.

It you go to the menu system and see 'tivusat' under the Common Interface menu item it is working. If it says 'Empty Slot' and then 'Initialising..' you need to try again.

I really doubt much of the above procedure is relevant and basically think there is a race condition (bug) in the software during initialisation which Humax don't care about since no one uses CAMs in this device. I am putting mine back on ebay and have bought a iCord Mini instead. No iPlayer and EPG, but I have a playstation so I can live without that.

It anyone else finds a real solution, or Humax update the software again to fix it then please let me know.

Well thankyou for all your efforts and I'm sorry there seems to be no permanent solution.
