Thanks Adam, I really appreciate your detailed message. I was neglecting other pressing responsibilities, so my partner peeled me away from this hell of my own creation (just before seeing and implementing your suggestions). I recently tried following your instructions and I couldn't get it to work for some reason. It simply won't recognise any channels for Hotbird. It might be because I installed the satellite in the winter, and the foliage of neighbour's tree has since grown in its path. So I have moved the satellite further back and an am waiting on some coax connectors I ordered to arrive in order to get my cables to reach the new spot. I doubt that the problem was the tree, though, to be honest. It should have at least picked up some vague signal. On top of that, WinTV is not recognised under tuners even after installing drivers. So I can't get terrestrial or satellite to work. I fiddled around installing various drivers after trying your instructions and I've manages to get the receiver to crash repeatedly in the process. I have no idea how I managed to get it to scan for Astra when Hotbird is proving so difficult. Edit: It often said something about not finding transponders when attempting various scans (I tried your instructions first and then fiddled around with all sorts of scans and drivers) Another thing is that the USB WinTV thingy is too squeezed against other cables, mainly HDMI, I think, so I am using a USB-A extender. I tried briefly squashing it in against the HDMI to test the connection directly but it made no difference. Lights turn on the physical WinTV device in a normal-looking way, it's just not picked up under tuners through the software
