But When this receiver scans the first 50% 10.700 - 12.750 all Vert and once past 50% its does the whole thing again 10.700 - 12.750 all in horizontal this is why I have found a total of 414 channels with Vert + Hoz .
It's scanning the 4 separate LOs in that time, H & V are irrelevant. If you stopped at 50% you'd only have covered the the two 13v LOs.

What we really want to know is you are getting anything from the Sub Saharan Africa beam? There's lots of frequency re-use going on so much may be impossible.

Understood Ozumo I will check if I can receive Sub Saharan Africa beam , Yes fully understand that H+V are irrelevant like you say check I am receiving Jurnal TV HD and SBN International and any other channels you may think I am missing .

If you deleted all channels and rescan horizontal, Jurnal TV HD should be saved around 11185H. Is there a second copy around 12585V?

If so that would indicate the 13v/22khz 10750 LO's IF range reaches up to 1985mhz and could make a 2 LO setup that covers the whole band possible.

Morning Ozumo yes I have found Jurnal at Q 90 Sig 85 but cant find on the list SBN International but will have a look at some other list and see if I can find the TP as the only SBN channel I have is SBN Global thats on 12.380 H .

Yes I will delete all the Channels then do a Re Scan and if need be do a second scan and save Astra 4A (Sirius 4) / SES 5 V + Astra 4A (Sirius 4) / SES 5 H
I will play today and see what I can find .

Ok found on some other web site SBN International 12.380 H or TVGE Guinea any of should confirm Sub Saharan Africa beam?

You will have to scan twice, once with corotor H and once V. No SBN International may mean you aren't receiving the nordic beam, which shouldn't be a problem on such a large dish.

For Sub Saharan beam look for MBC 12621/V/3660 2/3 (around 11071 for you). SBN on the Nordic beam is on 11345/H/30000 (11095 or 12195 for you).

Ok just finished having a play . I can confirm I can receive Jurnal TV HD + SBN International but I have checked on receiver and satllink meter and cannot see the ID MBC ( Malawi Boardcasting Corporation ) on 12.621 V or 11071 .

LNB : Universal : LNB 9750 - 10600
So far I deleted all channels then did one scan Vert + the other Hoz .
Channels received on Vert was 177 + Hoz was 147 with a total of 324

Before I deleted the channels on a blind scan it was getting 429 , Now only 324 so I can only assume there was lots of duplicates .

Looking at the foot print of the Ku Sub Saharan Africa beam I think I would need a much larger dish as the beam seems to be over West + South Africa . Maybe a 6M+ would do the job .

But all the other stuff I can receive at Q 95 Sig 85 - 90

Give me some other channels and I will check and see if I can receive them .

I get all the Europe & Nordic beams easily on a 90cm dish, so there's not much on 4.8e to aim for with such a big dish other than the African channels. Maybe try again for the Sub Saharan beam when you've fully set the dish up.

All ok on 90 cm dish receiving the Sub Saharan wow your doing well but not seeing a thing over here . I have not played with the dish end yet but I know the arms are way off it looks as if the feed is pointing 4 inch above the centre of the dish but I thought I would get the LNB sorted out first .But I know the beam on this dish is very narrow as setting up the polar mount is a pain in the bum .But getting a 95 Q and 87 Sig so I think its pretty much on . But I will do some tweeks plus the ASC1 needs to be set up when it arrives . As for this LNB if I cant get any joy I will just remove the corotor and refit the old Lnb .

Once that all done I will fit the new Stainless Steel arms that Rimants made for me plus still got to rub down and respray the jack but we shall see .Once the Lnb is working I will down load a copy of the sat channels .

Thanks again .

Never said I was receiving the Sub Sahara beam
Maybe time for a elevation or declination motor, ASC1 supports that.

I might be reading it wrongly but are you saying the ASC-1 as originally shipped is capbable of polarity skew and dual axis of Az/El?

Whoops my mistake, saw someone else's setup and looking again they were using two ASC-1s not one :-doh

Here is a pic of a couple of ASC-1's that have been modded for dual axis Az/El control. It is a different modded design for each ASC-1 but they are both for dual axis Az/El.

I should point out the modification is not mine, I do not have the skills or knowledge required to be able to do such a modification. I was kindly given permission by the modder to publish the picture.

Evening Guys all ok there Ozumo on not receiving Sub Saharan beam as you can see from the foot print its no where near the europe I wonder if any other people are receiving it in Europe because I thought I saw the other day one of the memebers of this forum has a 5m dish so might have better luck with that . Yes the ASC1 should be here in the next frw days but I wont play with that until I put the Lnb problems to bed first .

The guy who installed mine back in 1990 here had a 6m with 2 x jacks .So it wont be long now till I can ask them about the settings or best domestic Rx that will work with this Lnb .

That looks very nice there MB in my younger days I could make things like that but too busy working away then . The one I have bought is just a standard ASC1 and have no intention of making up a second box if I wanted dual axis Az/El I think I would go for a Research Concepts Inc RC2000A Dual Axis Antenna Controller .

Would it help down loading the new William-1 Satellite/TP/Channel list for the TM-5402 . Since I have done a blind scan i would have thought it should have found all the active channels on Astra 4A .

No because the frequencies won't match and therefore none of the channels will work. Also I assume his list will not include transponders that require a much larger dish.

With a dish like yours you should aim for the far away beams that the vast majority of us won't ever get a sniff of, otherwise what's the point :)

Hi Ozumo

Yes I have a feeling not , As for the weak beams in the UK well this is why I went for a SMW LNB and so far its got allot my Q+S than my old standard quad band Lnb had . Its a high quality dish and polar mount why not install I high end LNB to suit .

But there seems very few quad band with WR75 flange available these days . Its a bit like doing terrestrial DX TV in the old days I had a wide band dx UHF TV antennal that was about 16 foot long with a mast head pre amp and on a lift you could see TV from all over europe . But in those days there was a guy in luton who made custom TV antennas " Bill Smiths Antennas " But it was good other wise whats the point of having a 3.7 m dish.

But I have asked on a few forum and most have echoed your comments so once SMW comfirm this it looks like the SMW lnb is going to be history pity as its a good LNB but I will ask some of the other commercial dealers and see what they have to say .

So does 324 channels seem the right amount for Astra 4 / Sirius 2_3 over the weekend I will plug in the C band Lnb that should be straight forward the Norsat 3120F .

There's no need to bin the SMW, you just need to learn to live with it. Also you keep mentioning quad band LNBs, you've never needed a quad band, a dual band LNB will cover the whole band just fine. 324 sounds fine, there'll be some doubles in that list as well.

We look forward to the C band scans :)

Good Morning Ozumo , Oh the SMW wont be put in the bin more like the bottom draw or put on Ebay but I will ask some of the commercial dealers and see what they have to say , Its all down to terminology quad band but I still have the old 30 year old LNB here but to change that the corotor has to be removed since its bolted straight onto the corotor flange . Good new on 324 channels what I will do today is find out how to delete the channels stored in this satllink WS 7009 meter and then do a re scan on Hoz + Vert and see how many I get on this .

As for C band yes from looking at that list there seems to be a fair amount on C band this is were you need a larger dish for the lower frequencies I was amazed when I saw the difference between a 6m + 3.7m dish on signal strength and picture quality I could clean it up with a Phanton 70 mhz band width filter but you cant beat a bigger dish .

So I will give a scan on C band and see what we find .

Yes agreed, for Ku-Band that dish needs pointing at something like 3.0W, 25.5E and the cluster around 26.0E (exluding badr 4 - the bin lid satellite). There are plenty of Middle East beams that are hard to receive in the UK with small dishes. Also of interest could be 17.0E, the relatively new Amos 17 satellite that carries some African beams and quite a few spot beams.

There are plenty of other satellites with extreme fringe C-Band and Ku-Band beams in the UK. After 4 months and many pages of topics/replies it is time for some scanning and pictures of captures.

Afternoon MB yes well 30 years ago the system was installed for C band reception from the middle east and even got some from Singapore very low in the sky for that but I can only say we are getting there did a C band scan this afternoon and receiving 46 C band signals with a Q of 75 and Sig 70 from the way the signal is I would say there circular polarisation so the Norsat 3120F is working well . This is on Astra 4 / Sirius 2_3 Vert + Hoz The list shows 36 Channels and I have , Plus lots of radio feeds Ref : FlySat Astra 4A / SES-5 @ 4.8° East , Oh Yes I worked out how to delete the channels on my Sat meter as I had over 1200 channels from previous Ku scans so now I only have 46 channels in the memory .

Once I know whats going to happen to this SMW LNB I can get the rest of the work on the dish done . As not much point in tweeking then stripping the arms off and setting up prime focus position all over again .
