My Satellite Setup
Normal Sky digtial dish, looking to buy a dreambox
My Location

Hi,

Looking to pickup an Xtrend ET5000 for around £200 as an alternative to Dreambox DM500 HD. With the DM500 HD seen some advertised at £180 and others over the £300. With all the talk of far east clones I reckon the cheapers ones must be the clones.

There are couple of question I have with regard to the Xtrend: -

1.) How good is it compared to the DM500 HD?

2.) How good is it's PVR capability - on a par with the Dreambox?

3.) As it has USB2 port which is a lot slower than eSata and as such will it be able to record 1080i content to a connected USB2 drive without issues.

What do you guys think of the ET5000? Anybody else got an alternative to the DM500 HD that they can recommend?

Thanks
Haider

You'd be best to place your question in the Clark/xtrend receiver forum.

1. Its a good box according to forums
2. PVR works
3. USB2 is probably faster than your hard disk xfer speed, as is eSata, can't see it matters what connection method is.
