Hi, I am looking to buy a digital receiver to receive one particular radio station. Ideally it would be in a 19" rack mount case and would have balanced audio outputs on it. It doesnt need any other features as it will be tuned into one station and left in an equipment room for a couple of...
I am currently using a Technomate 1500 which replaced an old Humax receiver. The humax had a 0/12volt output which selected between 2x 4 way diseqc switches giving me 8 availiable lnb's.
The technomate does not have the 0/12volt output so at the moment I have only 4 lnb's connected.
I am...
I had to get my local newsagent to order it. Most newsagents have a catalogue that lists every magasine availiable in the UK. Try your local shop rather than the high street stores.
Thanks to yourself and a few others posting on these forums I have taken stock of a few things and come to a few conclusions.
I searched and found a post reorting that the Fortec dishes were poor performers. I found a post stating they were ok if set up properley. Here comes the good bit. No...
I have been trying to use a fortec 2.4 m petalised dish for Nilesat and the MBC channels. I have been dissapointed with the results. The reception is borderline at best. The signal drops out in the afternoon and only returns early evening.
I have read reports that the fortec star only works as...
For the difference in price, I would go for the 2.4m fortec star petalised. The horizontal channels are so far down on the verticals that I wouldnt have thought a 1.8m would come close in the UK.
However, I am near Manchester, and the signals on this satellite do vary enourmously over a short...
I am in the northwest of england and tried Nilesat on a 1.6m dish. Only got the transponder with the educational channels and nothing else. Even then reception was poor with lots of blocking and breakup of the picture. I now have a 2.4m dish and receive all vertical transponders, only two...
Thanks Oldsat,
The dish is something I picked up second hand off ebay a couple of months ago. It's a 1.5m fibreglass prime focus. I am guessing it is fairly old as it came with a connexions motor and positioner (really aincient, east and west buttons, 16 sat positions settable by trimmer...
I have recently got a used 1.6 metre dish to go with my Humax receiver and am trying to get reception of Nilesat 7w. I am based near Manchester (53 N, 2 W). Having searched these forums, I see that there are several members receiving the vertical transponders (the horizontal ones seem pretty...
Sorry but i have no experience of Triax flexi block. From experience when setting up a 2 feed on a single dish I would align the dish on the weaker of the two satellites, ie: Astra 1 at 19.2 deg E. Once you have that up and running then you start to play with the second LNB, making sure you...
Does anyone know if a 2.4 metre would work for the FTA channels in the Northwest of England? Most are on the Middle east beam, has anyone received these in the UK. I am supposing that it will be a bit like receiving Astra 2D in Cyprus.
It is a mesh dish as opposed to solid. I personally dont think it has anything to do with wind. I think they are less visible when bolted to a wall, you can still see some of the building behind it. Also use slightly less metal than a solid dish so maybe some cost savings in manufacturing?
