Hi - Folks -
About time i got round to documenting this project -- i purchased this dish for £399.00 on ebay over a year ago .. bidding in the last few seconds as no one else had bothered .... probably because it had to be collected from just outside Belfast ... anyway it was now mine... fuel and ferry costs for car +trailer added about another £300.00 ... but i thought "what the hell" these 2.4 C.M. dishes and mounts don,t come up second hand very often .... it can be a project for my retirement ..
The only part of the dish setup not included in the purchase was the king post that the whole mount swivels on .. that was left on the roof of the building that it was originally located on (maybe to mount a different dish on?) ... here are some pics supplied by the chap i bought it from to show the assembly/setup .... it was in pieces in the sellers Garage when i collected it . as you see from the pics its a dual axis mount and has 2 large (Thompson Saginaw) jacks with it.
And so its been sat waiting (for a year) for me to get round to working on it .. which i have been .. on an off ... during the past couple of months.
But just for initial playing and testing i,v fastened the dish to the polar mount that held the Prodelin as its currently unused and solidly planted by my garage door --- its not ideal, as the weight balance is way too far forward from the pole and is a little springy in a strong wind
but its handy to work on here, and should not be in this spot for more than a few months ... The prodelin mount although very basic works well (even with a tiny old Echostar jack on it ) ..... pics showing how i,v fastened it to the Prodelin mount etc ...
