2.4 meter Channel Master Prime Focus

Greetings from North Carolina - USA...

I would like to enquire about a specification sheet for the 2.4 meter Channel Master prime focus dish. I have 2 of these and was wondering what the "specified" focal length is. I also have a 3 meter but I have the spec sheet for that one...I found it on this forum a few months ago. Any help would be appreciated.

Have a look on asc signal's site _http://www.ascsignal.com/html/esa.html to see if they still do that design as they have most of the Channel Master designs now..

or we'll dig up the equation to calculate it

OH and welcome!

After CM passed through Andrew and on to ASC Signal they have dropped that design unfortunately. I have the original feed on one of the 2.4 meter dishes and I can measure from that...I was just curious as to what the stated "spec sheet" focal length was.

I live in a very rural and mountainous area of Western NC and have been in the satellite industry for nearly 30 years. TVRO was very popular in my area back in the 80's and 90's, as OTA antennas generally weren't worth more that one or two channels at best. In the early and mid 1980's there was a local store that installed Channel Master systems, and they installed a boatload of those dishes. There are still 5 or more 2.4 meter dishes that I could probably have if I would just go and ask. I have a third 2.4 meter that will go up this spring. I keep looking for another 3 meter but I haven't located any yet...but I know they're out there..:)

Turok: These are the white 4 piece SMC dishes. There are no more in stores but there are still some standing at peoples homes that haven't been used in years. They are heavily stained from tree sap and weather, and pressure washing usually brings it off along with a layer of fiberglass. I just put a good coat of paint on the front and they perform good as new.

You can see my dish farm pics at Webshots...

Hello!
was there also a orginal cband feedholder for the 4 segment channel master =?

3.,0m,i have this dish, but not yet installed!
i dont wont to use corotors,it takes to much signal, currencly the bigest mainproblem is,to fix the seavey feed, that i import from usa,for over 1200$ on it,
the cm 3.0 has 4 feedholders, instread of 3,,this makes,it much more harder,or nearly imposible,to fix the heavey seavey feed on it,
without special selfmade adaption
the new seavey feeds are much better, then the old one,on older esr series, was only designed for one special f/d,but the newer one,you can use,on every f/d,and also the performance is much better!
but some day,it will work,i hope..!
when there was any orginal cband, holder
if you find one,for this dish please inform me!
,i want to make first some tests in kuband, and then in cband only, and at least, with seavey receiving both bands together!
if someone,has a masterplan,for this projekt picutres,tips and hints,would be very nice:)

Sorry so late Turok...

There was no feedholder, but the support arms attached directly to the back of the scalar plate with two screws...this kept the scalar plate from twisting and throwing the skew off. You might be able to see this in my pictures.

I'm familiar with the Seavey, but at $1200 it better be able to counter some serious loss. That's why I use orthomode feeds...they have less loss than a Corotor...

Turok, what is the model number for the new type of Seavey?

If it's a PDF then it's just a bit too large to upload onto the site here. If you could wrap it inside a RAR or ZIP then the limit is a bit higher. This way everyone reading this thread could benefit.

I'm unsure whether your posting rights will allow you to upload yet - could an Admin please confirm?

Hi AC,
We both have 4 posts. I guess neither one of us can PM?
What exactly are we allowed to do as far as exchanging contact info is concerned? Am I allowed to give you my e-mail address by posting it here? Mods?

You could try Pauls suggestion and upload it for the benefit of all members after zipping it first of course it depends upon the size of the zip file

If it's "only" 6MB then a ZIP will be no problem at all, it's well within file size limit.

It really woud be nice to have the file here so that it can help anyone that needs it. This IS a self-help forum after all.

Regarding post count - get posting!

1.0 Channel Master

Hello from Florida USA,

I realize this is a very old thread but thought would ask. I have recently acquired a 3 Meter (10') Channel Perforated Dish and I am looking for any information you might have to help me reassemble it. I have the manual for the SMC version that was posted earlier in this thread but my mount is different. Any help/info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
