Why is the case with a large footprint there is no hope for excellent channels? Hotbird and Astra seem to manage it ok? Maybe there is still room for competition, and Turkey seem to be going that way overall in my opinion, despite the end game that is of course possibly;)

That said, that other slot for Türksat at 50 East has not had any activity either really. Perhaps it’s destined for other uses who knows.

Not only 2, the Lebanese channels are still active except LBC.

The Lebanese channels are just a reflection from the Arabsat bird that's virtually parked right next to Turksat. After just over 6 months in orbit there's literally just 2 TRT channels using the new Turksat, and these are on some sort of Turkey spot beam so the majority of people in Europe can currently receive nothing from it! Been a big disappointment so far!

They're rather on the MENA beam, not Turkey beam. The signal has been prefectly received on the Azores.

I didn't know exactly which beam they're on, just knew they're certainly not on a beam that's easily receivable over the majority of Europe.

Turksat 5A looks like just another back up satellite like Turksat 5B @ 50°E mainly used for data & internet.
Turksat 5B will launch to 42°E in October 2021 & Turksat 6A will provide more back up 42°E in 2022.
