BTW
45E is now at 45.13E, according to Intelsat 38 (45°E) - Alle uitzendingen - Frequenties - KingOfSat

So when outlining zero with a USALS setup, I usually check Kingofsat and adjust the orbital position in my receiver, of the satellite that I set my motor setup on.

Apart from that, I set my USALS latitude at the 'modified motor latitude' value (that is: 90 minus the 'modified motor elevation angle').
I once calculated that the difference in outcome is not more than some hundredths of a degree, if I recall right, but I rather want to use the slightly better modified USALS outcome when that is so easy to set. I reckon it will improve overall arc-fitting compromises.

I've never reasoned my way through the effect of play on the axis, and weight of the dish, to the effect on the motor angles (and the needed USALS corrections), though. Would be interesting.

But it is good, that you have the reception you want, now.

What's the signal reading you're getting on 40.5w? I get around 7.5db at best.

Thanks

another one being elusive but not quite as much as 45w for me, is 31.5 - can only get about 9db on it, but only if i tweak USALS, which throughs out the arc generally

looking forward to a clear day when i will start from scratch i think...

45w has that radio channel but it's a very low SR of 990, which many receivers cannot lock.

Did you switch the receiver into "Radio" mode with the "TV/Radio" button on the remote - you won't get any radio channels unless you do?

PS: my SX88 resolved the China Radio channels in that mode yesterday.

That sounds about right - since the UK is barely on the satellite's footprint.

the search goes on...
you should also be able to get some channels from the WideBSS footprint - I can receive 11973v at around 10.4db.

No, Yes

- and Yes!

PS: and I said the same thing quite a few posts ago:rolleyes:

PS: Just fired up the SX88+ in the lounge (it drives the same Gibby via an antenna relay & a "Smart Priority Switch", so probably losing a couple of dBs there!) and that's bringing in live audio streams from 3 of the 5 China Radio channels on 45W "loud and clear" (76%SS & 82% SQ) but there's no indication of any signals when in TV mode:lol:

I'm having the same issue - cannot seem to catch 45w but could be an obstacle issue but I was wondering if my arc was a bit off. I get 11557h on 34w at 20db and 54.5e at 11.8db.

For those who have 45w, what are you getting on those two sats?

On KU apart from the China Radio transponder it's all data, which your receiver may not save as channels.

Hey

An update:

My USALS longitude is usually 0.1e - however after some playing around, i set it to 0.9w - i then did a blind scan of 45w - and have pulled in one of those BEAM TPs

11550 V 34286 (10db)

can you get this on 45W ?

maybe its not actually 45w im pulling that from - but thats where my motor drove to using 0.9w USUALS.

yes i can get 20db on 34.5 .....can you get 31.5 ? i can (if i fudge my USALS) - well, i think its on 31.5 (it might be a spill over from 30w)

Almost certainly a spill-over from 30W - the last Ku band channel from 31.5W that was receivable in the UK (on a realistically sized dish!) was Cherifla TV, but that changed to another beam for N Africa maybe a year ago and so disappeared as far as the UK is concerned.

thanks, not sure why you struck out the first bit as i can get 20db on 34.5 as can @Chr0nik ....but thanks - I didnt know that about 31.5 - so thats a no go with a 1.2m then....wasting my time with that one then.

did you try to see if u can get the 45w beam as posted above...

You should be able to get around 14-17 db on 52 and around 13 on 53 with a 120cm. It might need a small adjustment.

How's the signal on the western sats? 34.5 or 30?

Thanks for this.

Im getting about 13db on 52, and it drops lots to about 7db on 53 - i think my motor needs a very small tweak to peak the far east sats still.

weekend job!!!
