Hello,
Here's my experience on installing 5 lnbs
on a dm800:
The good post fromAnaloguesat gave me
the inspiration (for 8 lnbs) the menus on
the 800 are a bit different though.
first i needed to replace my 4 way diseqc
switch for an 8 way unit, like in the picture.
I think it's an uncommitted switch.
then go to menu, settings, service search,
tuner configuration,
Config. mode: advanced
Sat.: whichever
LNB: LNB 1,2,3,4 or 5
Priority: Auto
LOF: Universal lnb
Voltage: Polarisation
Increased voltage: no
Tone mode: Band
Diseqc mode: 1.1
Toneburst: none
Committed Diseqc command: None
Fast Diseqc: no
Sequence: no
Command order: comm., Uncomm., toneburst
Uncommited Diseqc command: Input 1,2,3,4 or 5
Diseqc repeats: none

There, it may not be the best way to do it,
but it works fine for me, I can quickly switch
from one satellite to another.
Let me know if you need more infos.
Take care,
yusat;)

Surely it would have been easier to get a Spaun or EMP-Centauri 8x or 16x DiSEqC switch which allows you to use any receiver with DiSEqC 1.2, not just a Dreambox.

The receiver thinks it is telling a motor to turn, but the switch switches from one input to another. No complicated setting up is required. :D

It is a good option if you have a PC card and are worried about the power issues of driving a motor (at least no one has found a problem with using these switches as far I am aware; most users of this setup are on the continent and using Wave Frontiers, etc).

Some switches allow you to add a DTT aerial, which may be convenient for some users.

hi there yusat. i found your post quite interesting. i am planning to buy db 800 and since I would like to get signal from several satellites I am hesitating between a motor and several lnbs. of course each option has its good and bad sides. i would appreciate if you share your opinion on these points:

- i have used motor in the past and since i am not really verry savvy in the domain I am not sure how it would work with several lnbs. lets say i put 5 lnbs. how many satelites would one single lnb get? for instance, would it get these two ones Astra 2A - 110727 and Astra 2B - 110803 or any ones that are close to each other? What I mean is what is the amplitude of capture per lnb? In other words, If I want to get signal from 10 different satellites should I get 10 different lnbs?

- what type of lnbs do you recommend - since there will be 5, I would like to minimise the cost per lnb. would one of these be appropriate? Chess Edition3 Single LNB, 0.1dB; Edision Single LNB SL-5 0.2 dB; LNB Inverto Single 0.2dB Silver Tech - IDLP-40SL+ ?

I would really appreciate your comments.

Thank you so much in advance
Bob
