I plan to see somebody that has an issue with their system, but I doubt it is the receiver that is causing trouble (unless it was stuffed into a small space under the television )

They have confirmed it's an M2 and from memory this had no real issues apart from the fan seizing up after a few years.

Bearing in mind this might be a 12 year + install, are the machines still going strong in most households and what is the advantage to replacing it apart from 4k or Multistream stuff ?

My first M3 expired from capacitor failure in the power supply area so that may be a weakness in them

The M2 lost support early on from Technomate the best one still is the M1 (Made in South Korea) It has much better picture chrominance in HD & SD transmissions are passable the M3 (made in China) was very disappointing in my opinion HD is OK but SD is rubbish re picture quality.
