Hello all,
I was wondering whether anybody knows what satelitte dish I would need to get back freesat channels in northern Spaiin, specifically Pamplona, Navarra.
I currently have a 80cm dish and lost all of these channels with the switch over in 2014. I still get my paid for Sky channels.
Want to change the dish to a bigger size but have no idea what size I should go up to. Local installers aren´t used to UK expats requirements, what should I be asking them?
Many thanks

Have a look at the map in my sig, Its a few years old now but it should give you an idea, although please be aware that with the Astra 2 UK beams in fringe areas, signal strengths can vary greatly over a few km.

Probably 1.5 - 1.8m is required although Spain is in a bit of a dead zone so there are no guarantees

Motorised dish currently: 40,5° West to 45° East.

With 90 cm of antenna, I cannot capture the BBC channels in HD, nor the ITV channels in HD.

All the others yes :).

I say it should't be too hard to get UK beams there, as said before, anything more than 1.5m should work ok. 1.8m should give a good margin for rain and 'normal' fluctuations.
In this case, bigger is always better!

I have spoken to a local company to come and realign (didn´t do it when the switch off happened) and if that doesn´t work seems that the sensible move is to get a bigger dish??

Galicia is a long way from where you are - and I already noted with UK beam reception in the fringes the signal strengths vary wildly over a few km.

Dont waste your money trying to get the 80cm aligned better. You wont get anything useful off it. Just buy a big dish.

These are the frequencies that I can see.

According to this map, NOT official, in Pamplona no signal is received.

Don't rely on those maps too much, also, is not known the dish size used for those reports.

Based on that, I should get little to no signal over here.
Even the Analoguesat's one does not quite reflect the reality.

Inside that 'null' area in Portugal I was able to get UK spot with dish size of 1.6m (so not that big), but without enough margin for rain, also tricky because you're aiming at Astra2E , Astra 2F/2G or somewhere in between, so if dish not big enough, you lose one to have best possible signal in another.

Checking locally with a carefully aligned and decent dish size is the best option.

What its the porpuse of this leakage on this sat? maybe is for the british in that zone I rememeber when was reachable here in the south i though that should be due to Gibraltar. Now they havent options.

Hi there. I live in Vielha which is in the center of the red zone on the map re this post.
Have you managed to resolve your problem and get BBC on freesat?
Im in the process of getting a satellite system to watch freeview and am looking at dish sizes

You won't get Freeview on a dish anywhere even in the UK. Freeview is a terrestrial service received via a UHF aerial.
