Any thoughts on the 1.8 V 2.4 gain thing at all Crossbones as I know you are a fan of the Andrews antennas, wisdom was that the difference was fairly neglegable.

2.4 has 78% more dish face. In fringe areas that's a huge difference. Same difference as between a 60cm and an 80cm dish.

Was getting at the 1 piece / 2 piece thing with losses associated therein. Theory and reality differences etc. Reports are that the larger 2.4 because of its construction doesn't bring as much improvement as one might expect over the 1.8.

No real losses, both antennas are designed to work for TVRO and VSAT certification, so the gain and beamwidth figures are likely to be affected more by construction than any manufacturing defects.

Having owned both dish sizes, there is quite a lot to be gained from a 2.4m CM reflector over the 1.8m. But the weight of the larger dish does mean a more substantial ground mount and far more concrete.

I used to have both the 1.8m channel master and the 2.4m channel master and i found that there is a big step in gain from the 1.8m to 2.4m but i sold the 2.4m as i could receive the channels i wanted with the 1.8m offset channel master but now i want a prime focus to play with c-band. To me using the 2.4m over the 1.8m was like going from a 60cm dish to a 1.2m dish if you know what i am getting at.

When I had a Channel master 1.8m I could just about pull it in.(near Swansea)

Im in the process of installing my 1.8m Precision dish, so not sure if this dish will pull in 7W.

I cant see why it wont.
