They're not DAB, they're just standard AAC audio streams transmitted in DVB-IP. They feed the FM transmitters in Portugal, and in Spain they feed the regional studios of each of the networks where local adverts/programmes are inserted (before getting sent to the FM transmitters).

At least some of the Portuguese ones (Rádio Comercial at least) also carry the RDS data for the FM transmitters via this feed, inside the UDP packet headers in the DVB-IP stream.

I'm not really sure why they're listed as DAB on Flysat. You can use the tools that come with the satellite DAB eti-tools to decode them, so maybe that's where the confusion comes from!
Thanks for that info!

I don't know, I haven't tried 9°E myself! But looking at the transponder monitor on Digital Bitrate, it looks like both Digital 1 (1062) and SDL National (1063) are still both present in the transport stream on 12092H, I don't know about the BBC (1061).

Both of those DAB muxes and the BBC have now been turned off on 4.8°E 12303H, so maybe they've made a switch from Astra 4 to Eutelsat 9 for some of their distribution. All three are still on 28.2°E 11425H as before though, but that is on the tight UK beam.

Yes, these are two regional UK multiplexes -

PID 1064 - Teesside
PID 1065 - North Yorkshire

In the same format as the other multiplexes on 12092H.

They've been on there for a couple of months now. This is related to the fire that destroyed the Bilsdale transmitter in north eastern England in August. The destroyed mast was where these two multiplexes were distributed from to the other transmitters in the network, using microwave links. Satellite is presumably being used as a back-up to feed the transmitter network while they rebuild!

dvbstream -f 12092000 -s 27500 1063 -p H -o | ts2na -s 12 -p 1063 | na2ni | ni2out --list
I get the list on one console at 12092 H,27500,3/4 only if I switch on tune-s2 on the other terminal. If I turn off tune-s2, I don't get the list. I also tried PIDs 1064 and 1065 but to no avail, which no longer applies (?)
What is missing from the command to activate dvbdream? Or how?
Thanks :)

Hmm I’m not sure why it doesn’t tune successfully just using dvbstream, but the error in the dvbstream console in your screenshot is because you can only give parameters to tune the card with one of the tools at one time.

So because you already have tuned with tune-s2, in the dvbstream console you only need -

Code:
dvbstream -o 1063 | ts2na -s 12 -p 1063 | na2ni | ni2out --list

dvbstream can’t set any parameters (these have already been set by tune-s2 which is running), it can only read the output MPEG-TS from the adapter, filtering the PIDs as required.

Of course, you can put “dablin_gtk” rather than “ni2out --list” to play the DAB mux. :)

1064 and 1065 have now been switched off I think sadly. Only PIDs 1062 and 1063 remain on 9°E

BBC AM Distribution stream works with dablin_gkt. Many thanks :Y
On the first console, I activated mux with tune-s2, and on the second, I put the command:
dvbstream -o 1063 | ts2na -s 12 -p 1063 | na2ni | dablin_gtk

Hi,
while i was checking all the dab feeds over satellite i noticed i can't open the greek stream on 39 East.
The usual command
Code:
nc 172.16.0.203 2103 | tsniv2ni 1010 | ni2out --list
doesn't work anymore, this is what i get:
Code:
sat@sat-VirtualBox:~/Desktop/etisnoop$ nc 172.16.0.203 2103 | tsniv2ni 1010 | ni2out --list
cont 14100
cont 24064
cont 16356
cont 11092
cont 5452
cont 8272
cont 18800
cont 23876
wrong AF
^Z
[4]+ Stopped nc 172.16.0.203 2103 | tsniv2ni 1010 | ni2out --list

So i tried recording a raw eti file with the command
Code:
nc 172.16.0.203 2103 | tsniv2ni 1010 > file.eti

and i analyzed it with etisnoop:
Code:
sat@sat-VirtualBox:~/Desktop/etisnoop$ etisnoop -i file.eti
Identified ETI type RAW

For DAB at 39.0E, you must activate on one console, tune-s2, mux 12241 H, and the other, the line -dvbstream -o 1010 | tsniv2ni 1010 | dablin_gtk, as in the following video:

-tune-s2 12241 H 13381 -adapter 0 -system DVB-S2 -lnb UNIVERSAL
-dvbstream -o 1010 | tsniv2ni 1010 | dablin_gtk

That's not the problem.... i know how to tune a channel!
I don't use dvbstream because i have linux on a virtual machine so i tune the channel in windows and pass the full TS to linux via network.

the problem is something has changed in the stream and tsniv2ni can't find the sync byte to satrt the decoding of the ETI stream.

I can confirm that satesco's command works on linux. It should not make a difference if you tune on windows. It
is the rest of the decoding that matters and that is fine. It could also be that the windows tuning program produces
a bad stream.

Ok, i have identified the problem:
Code:
nc 172.16.0.203 2103 | tsniv2ni 1010 | ni2out --list
With this command i can't sync the ETI stream but, if i use wget instead of netcat everything works....
Code:
wget 172.16.0.203:2103 -q -O- | tsniv2ni 1010 | ni2oult --list

Since i'm a real noob using linux, can someone explain why this is happening?:unsure
(and this is happening only with tsniv2ni, if i use other eti-tools like feditoeti or ts2na everything works with netcat)
Thanks!

Well, instead of piping, write the stream to disk and see if the recorded files play
or what is wrong with them.

The problem could also be in the windows side. After all: two programs talk to each other.

One reason could be buffering (but then the stream probably just starts later).

The file produced by NC seems incomplete: there's no FSYNC[1] bytes, only FSYNC[0]
But this happens only if i have to use tsniv2ni, every other tool works fine....

Some changes to the German DAB distribution on 23.5°E.

12645V 1489 in the strange proprietary DVB-S with "fake" MPEG-TS packets (that only some receivers could lock) has stopped and been replaced by a new mux using the MPE/EDI format, as used by the other German muxes on 7°E and the French ones on 5°W.

It's now a standard DVB-S mux with valid MPEG-TS data - 12645V 2200. PID 3000 contains IP data with two DAB multiplexes.

228.10.1.5:10010 WDR 11D (the original multiplex that was transmitted here before in the old format)
228.10.2.5:10010 WDR 9A (a new test multiplex with regional versions of WDR2 and WDR4 - not yet broadcast terrestrially but apparently coming soon!)

The fedi2eti tool works for these as with the others.

Thanks, @Adam792 :Y, for the DAB update on 23.5E. Indeed, the change has taken place.
I tested 12645 V using the syntax used on the mux at 7.0E, as you said, mutatis-mutandis, i.e., stream parameters.
And the result on the two WDR streams looks like this.

I'm glad that they've made this change, my old TBS6905 was the only receiver I could lock the old version on (it would just pass the whole stream without caring about it being invalid).

Modulation with the HackRF also works nicely -
