it is usually the last step before they remap the EPG system, so the skyboxes use this signal instead of the old one.

So now that we have seen the successful launch of Channel 4 HD on 1N will we see Film 4 HD and HD variants of the other channels in 4's stable launch soon? Or are they more likely to concentrate on launching regional versions of Channel 4 HD ?

On the other side of the coin, I have now LOST CH4 HD from 12.606V. The original Eurobird 4HD transponder. Its now off air.

Any news on how we can in southern Italy get 4HD.

This is bad for business

I'm less than an hour's drive north-east of you and I'm picking up 1N on a 1.25m without issues.

I'm getting C4 HD Ok, my Sky HD box says 100% signal quality, but 0% signal strength - it is rock solid to watch, but how can it be with those readings?

Because Sky box "metering" is at best rubbish and at worst totally pointless.

I have come across many boxes that give wholly misleading indications.

Cheap and cheerful!

2 things to report - both unconfirmed

Got a 1.35 here still pulling in ch4 Hd presumably on 1N (will go and see it tomorrow)

If you now scan 11.973 the itv channels are showing info like " sly living the home of blah blah" when using an inactive card. Maybe another indication that a move is imminent for these channels. Again will confirm when I can.

That could be excellent news - looking forward to getting confirmation.

I think this is a red-herring. On my active card they behaving normally.

Made a call to LZ to check. 10964h and 11053h - nothing on a 1.35, assuming there's good alignment of course :D
Unable to check 11126v 8PSK.

with the statement from robs about "Transmission on 2D will be transferred on 1N (with same parameters) next year", any idea if this will be ALL 2D transmissions, or just a few, like the encrppted / sky ones, or can you really see ALL channels, including BBCs moving to 1N? Could this be on a "secret" beam that no-one knows about yet to keep the "right holders" happy?
Well it is a race against time. If 2F doesn't launch on schedule Astra 2D's goose will be cooked before 2F can replace it anyway. Anyway 2D hasn't been a particularly difficult beam except for a few cold spots like ours, but elsewhere most of western Europe has been receiving it with relative ease for almost 10 years without any obvious fuss from rights holders. So it looks like we are going to go through a patch where big dishes are not required, at least for about a year. 80cm dish won't be big enough though for Astra 2D frequencies to filter off the Badr5 and 30.5E transponders. More like a 1.2m is going to be needed. On the Fibo 90 I can clearly see the BADR5 transponders superimpossed on the 2D spectrum.

Also, if they lower the error correction from the 2/3 currently on the C4 HD transponder to say 8/9 big dishes would become necessary again due to the 8PSK constellation.

Hang on I'll have a look on my 7020 via DBedit

20791 is coming up as a service in Transedit, but it says that it's not running.

So it exits, but is not running yet. Like most of the others did before the started running. So it may still be something when they run it.

SES mainly do things to save power on the birds, and to make money....they and the americans who sell the series dont care much about overspill.as i said before i can watch the same US progs on my spanish tv aerial for free in english,as can viewers of bbc/itv.rights are sold by country not by if they in english or Klingon.Parochialism should be avoided when looking at the big picture
