Channel 5 used to be on Astra 2B south before yesterday, easy reception in Italy. If you can still get it now then you can get 1N.

The easiest 1N SD channel identification atm is 5USA / 5* - via the epg they are on definitely 1N

Vincenzo try a manual search using this frequency 10773 H 22000 fec 5/6 . If you cant get this frequency the CH5 you are getting is definitely Astra 1N,

It looks like the Canaries are badly affected....read the Fuerteventura forum if you really want to get really depressed,,,,

They are coming off Astra 1N via the epg's.

1N is stronger than 2D here for sure. Maybe on Saturday have more time to post info but both H and V off 1N on a 3.1 is no problem. Have seen a picture on a 1.35 for a vert HD signal but nothing on H.

We are going to Lanzarote on the 21st December but I will take my laptop and tune into a slingbox I have set up in the UK.

Not quite - they will still have widebeams so you should still get a lot of the pay channels. You can wave goodbye to the Freesat channels (BBC ITV C4 etc) though once 2D is switched off in 2012, and they are swapped over to the 1N uk beam. The much steeper eastwards drop off on the UK beam means no beam reception in Cyprus.
