so you get 11053 H on what size dishLanzadan said:Is it likely then that we could see bbc ect on astra 1N in the near future? If so then we could possibly get it on a 2.4m dish now we have established that we can receive horzontals here in lanzarote?
Forget the tin foil. Get some heavy bath towels, soaking wet, and use them to cover the dish face. Keep covering more up until you lose signal lock. Once you figure out where the signal failure happens you need to add about 50% more area to give you a reliable margin.radioagogo said:Astra 1n much stronger than 2d in the North of Fuerteventuraon a 2.4 mtr dish. Any teccy's out there who can answer this. I am trying to simulate a smaller dish to estimate reception. I have a C120 feed horn, The diameter is 80mm, I took some cooking foil cut a hole in it and placed it over the feed

i hope a 1.6/1.8 will work as that is a size some ppl can haveradioagogo said:D'you know it never occured to me to try it that way. Thanks for that. I'm just trying to establish the minimum size for accepable reception for those without large dishes. I was told today that someone was recieving channel 5 on a 1.35 metre dish in Corralejo but it was breaking up. I find that hard to believe. My neighbour across road has a 1.35, maybe tomorrow I'll take the meter down and see what I can find. I reckon a certain relay company on Lanzarote is about to make a killing. Cheers, will let you know how I get on.

Hi again, I took Huevos' advice and covered up me 2.4 with wet towels, my neigbours are now convinced I have lost the plot. The results were interesting. I covered the dish leaving 1.5 ish metres exposed, 2d totally gone, 1n on all operating transponders still watchable but pixellating, so my conculusion is that you might get away with a 1.6 certainly a 1.8 but I agree with Thor, you need to check the dish alignment, also you need a good quality LNB. Must go to neighbour and check on their 1.35. will let you know.milestone 11 said:Here in Fuerteventura, the 1.35m can't be much too small. Maybe a 1.6-1.8m would suffice. This morning, on a 1.35m I'm receiving C4HD again intermittently, probably something to do with the weather, fully clear skies today. I'm very close to "Radioagogo" who is getting good reception on a 2.4m.
what sort of meter have you got ,can it tell what is what or is it just signalradioagogo said:Hi again, I took Huevos' advice and covered up me 2.4 with wet towels, my neigbours are now convinced I have lost the plot. HOWEVER 1N will be replaced by 2E / 2F which will certainly have much narrower reception parameters than 1N.
And before anyone asks - no we dont know what will be possible on 2E / 2F!
Thanks for that radioagogo. C4 was pixellating until around mid-day. Nothing now.radioagogo said:Hi again, I took Huevos' advice and covered up me 2.4 with wet towels, my neigbours are now convinced I have lost the plot. The results were interesting.
