Nice diagrams... show the sidelobe very well, when you have your minimum around noon, it is strongest here at the eastern fringe of the "regular" footprint. Also interesting, you dont have a maximum when we have our deep minimum around 21.30h. Probably this is a more northwest-southeast movement, so you stay within the elongated sidelobe center.

In South West of Finland, 2E eurobeam levels in quite good level. One strange thing is that now Astra 2F eurobeam signal SNR is very much better, and the signals are quite equal and nice slopes in rfscan (see 12500Mhz and up, the difference is big).

I don't see any real difference here in Göteborg. Although the signal seems to have stopped jumping between 79% and 82% - now a steady 82%

Here are the results from my 80cm dish in Helsinki. It's not performing optimally due to obstructions on the balcony, so it's as big a dish as I can install.

The DrHD F15 quality level readings are approx as the receiver wasn't locking on any 2E transponders and the level was jumping around.

(Old Astra 2A level taken a few weeks ago in brackets at similar time and weather, signal OK at about >3.8dB )

11.720GHz/H 1.0dB (was 4.0dB )
11.739GHz/V 1.5dB (was 6.4dB )
11.758GHz/H 0.5dB (was 12.6dB )
11.778GHz/V 1.5dB (was 13.9dB )
11.798GHz/H 0.5dB (was 4.0dB )
11.836GHz/H 0.2dB (was 12.3dB )
11.856GHz/V 2.1dB (was 13.5dB )
11.914GHz/H 0.2dB (was 11.4dB )
11.934GHz/V 0.5dB (was 12.6dB )
12.012GHz/V 1.4dB (was 14.5dB )
12.344GHz/H 0.0dB (was 1.5dB )
12.382GHz/H 0.0dB (was 12.0dB )
12.460GHz/H 0.0dB (was 12.6dB )

Looks like your 1.8m might be able to get them though.

Twiddle dee, twiddle dum....
So what's all this noise about new satellites, I can't see any changes at all.
Checked signal levels half an hour ago and the only change was on the
N Europe beam where the crazy high levels (16+ dB ) have dropped to 14-ish.
Everything else is the same or slightly higher.

Thank You - Yves Rocher

What's your UK spot-beam reception like on 1N?

10714H for example has varied between 11,5 dB to 12,1 dB over the last four months.
This includes daily variation as well as weather influence.

Astra 2E Europe beam transponders on a 1.8m dish in Helsinki using DrHD F15 quality levels in the afternoon.
(Level in brackets was from a few weeks earlier similar time of day and weather before switch)

11.720GHz/H 13.7dB (was 14.0dB 2A South)
11.739GHz/V 13.1dB (was 13.5dB 2A South)
11.758GHz/H 13.4dB (was 19.0dB 2A North)
11.778GHz/V 13.1dB (was 16.1dB 2A North)
11.798GHz/H 13.2dB (was 13.4dB 2A South)
11.836GHz/H 13.4dB (was 17.0dB 2A North)
11.856GHz/V 12.2dB (was 18.6dB 2A North)
11.914GHz/H 12.5dB (was 16.4dB 2A North)
11.934GHz/V 10.7dB (was 16.1dB 2A North)
12.012GHz/V 8.9dB (was 18.7dB 2A North)
12.344GHz/H 10.5dB (was 9.9dB 2A South)
12.363GHz/V 10.8dB (was 0.0dB 1N PE1)
12.382GHz/H 9.7dB (was 18.3dB 2A North)
12.460GHz/H 8.3dB (was 18.1dB 2A North)

As others have reported, 2E Europe is similar to 2A South quality wise but several dB lower than 2A North and a huge improvement on 1N PE1. Frequencies higher up the band seem to be worse, but that could also be the long old cable run... (might have a go sorting that in the spring, along with some fine tuning of the dish as it hasn't been touched for a few years since Astra 2D was in use)

2E Europe is much stronger than the current 2F Europe transponders.

Your signal levels match mine to one tenth of a decibel on lower frequencies but mine
don't decrease at higher frequncies, my levels are the same all the way.

That's why when the weather improves I'll check the signals again by the dish on the roof with a short cable, I just don't fancy going up there with all my sat gear in the snow at the moment...

Looks like you're safe from complete blackout Timo :) I guess 2E's European footprint map isn't accurate as Finland doesn't even feature on it.

Well, yes if I want to drive over to my parents place to watch Sky. ;)

It is a bit odd as 2F's map seems a lot more accurate for Finland and more what I was expecting.

I'm not sure, it looks decent quality but the cable is 20 years old and about 20m long.

20 many years, PVC cable if you get the sun will no longer have the outer cover, Madrid (Spain) 10 years deceleration / PVC cracked by the sun.
20 meters is not much, but if you are bitten by any side can have many lost, a friend had very bad sign in Hispasat with a 60cm antenna for having bad cable.

If you put wire PE (polyethylene) low loss, I have several lines with 30 years and are like the first day, has no problem with the sun.
--------------------------
