Well take care and make sure you wear waders for extra "insulation".

I wasn’t suggesting the hardware in the garage was at fault,I remember spending an extraordinary amount of time waiting while the garage camera to be recognised by the network and we both suspected the shared mains wiring under the ground was at fault.

Possibly, but the power cable from the house to the garage is (or at least was) a continuous one (i.e. no joints/junctions) and a quick check with a neon "continuity/polarity checker" plug some months ago showed no issue, and neither has the RCBO in the garage been spontaneously "tripping. However

OTOH, some weeks after you left, I did run a Cat 6 cable from the conservatory direct to the garage because the PLC link to the NAS there was being disrupted (probably due to the tortuous and quite long cabling between the house ethernet->PLC plug and the PLC plug in the garage), and so I believe that particular issue has now been addressed.

Raining here again - though, thankfully, doesn't sound anywhere as intense as it did last evening (YET?).

Drizzle earlier but no downpour. Our garden needs somewhat more , hopefully today.

Finally, the heavens have opened. Too late for a couple of trees in the garden though , one apple tree is stone dead and the horse chestnut has fruit, but no green leaves at all.

A rumble of thunder every two minutes as well.

Too late, I installed a third butt a month ago to catch whatever was going.

Next I will be digging a well once I know the water table around here. It can't be that deep since there are three rivers nearby, but certain fat cats are known to be greedy with their abstractions to the west of London.

Not with the land around here. Lovely rubble and sand ( as opposed to the promised land, sorry - London clay)

So far I've worked down to about 3.5 metres but the drop in the garden and the auger extensions allows another 3m or so.

60 mph gusts here tonight and it is already raining. The dish moved again a week ago, despite me drilling the motor clamp and fitting a s/s self tapping screw. Therefore it must be the main pole that has moved which i find odd.

Only had a couple of "sprinklings" here, a few miles North of you.

Looking at the latest advisory for Hurricane Laura, the U.K. might catch some of her remains as early as the end of August.
