Neighbour’s small sky dish (“professionally installed”) just blew off like a kite. The Wavefrontier beast is still there.

We have had a lull for about an hour so I ventured outside. The local parade of shops have all had their awnings torn off one end , leaving large strips of razor sharp aluminium flapping about at just below head level.

It's been pretty quiet here for the past hour or so, I thought today was meant to be the UK's worst storm for years? Just been windy & rainy with a few minor inconveniences in a few places... :confused

My dish has moved a bit more to the east. I tightened up the TM motor brackets until they started to bend so I will have to get some better ones.

Nothing specia about this storm here. All trees still standing and so are the dishes. Whether they moved is another question.

Well, my shed roof repair done back in September survived the day at least, and unfortunately a neighbour's all-day barking dog didn't blow away either, bloody annoying thing...

My dishes have survived just need some slight adjustment to achieve best signals,
The row of trees at the back is no longer a row as a few have blown down.DSC01136.JPG

Hopefully for you, the "difficult" ones have "moved enough" for them to have to be taken down!

@william-1

Just curious, but how-come you can get 53E with the Raven 88cm, but only 50E with the 100cm Gibby?

PS: and Happy Birthday! :D

As the Gibby is nearer to my bungalow so the roof obstructs the signals past 50 east,
I have tried using a stab motor that raises the 100cm about 10 inches but with no improvement,
I have a plan to re-site the dishes in the spring to see if I can improve the coverage.

Ah, yes, that makes a lot of sense as I have similar issues here with the 1.25m Gibby and the TD110, which is the nearer one to the houses at the rear of my garden.

F'ing idiot - the rescue apparently also involved 2 other lifeboats and a SARS chopper, and even then he was lucky to be found before he drowned, according to BB news.

I noticed signal levels were down during the storm yesterday, but that was to be expected due to the heavy rain and heavy cloud cover
However it’s blue skies at present yet the signal quality is still reduced, however more puzzling is that signal level is greatly reduced to 1 to 4 %,on some transponders
Is this due to misalignment, caused by the weather?

Could be, try tweaking it in positioner set up.
