Hello everyone,

On a Dutch website I read that the BBC has to save money.
The website said that it could be possible that the BBC channels could become encrypted subscription channels instead of them being FTA on 28.2e.

I was wondering what I can believe from this story... the Belgian - Flemish VRT did stop his FTA broadcast via DVB-T in November 2018. So you have to pay a satellite, cable or internet subscription to watch these channels.

What do you guys think?

Would the BBC do the same?

When the licence fee finishes the BBC will stay FTA & will slim down to approx 2 to 4 HD National TV channels + 4 National Radio channels + some local radio,
The BBC will probably adopt a similar broadcast system to Germany & become commercial with advertising this will threaten the existence of some current commercial TV & Radio.

I was part of a debate as far back as 1990 about abolishing the TV Licence in favour of other funding solutions.

I'm still holding my breath.

If only they ditched Capita the people in this country might cut the BBC some slack.

Having idiots in charge of licensing and prosecuting doesn't do either side any favours.

Don't be conned into thinking the BBC only has British taxpayers to rely on for their funding, BBC World is totally and massively funded by countries the BBC say they do not have to divulge the name or names of, I do not need to speculate on the names ........

I was amazed it was available in so many languages with government funding of £289 million over 5 years ending 2020. No wonder they are going to means test OAP's for the licence fee'
