"Viewing figures continue to grow year on year and we look forward to continuing to work in partnership with the Six Nations to build interest even further through the BBC's unparalleled offering of TV, radio, online and interactive services" said slater.

The chief executive of Six Nations, John Feehan says: “The Six Nations remains the top annual event in world rugby and it was a tendering process open again to all broadcasters, but the BBC won out with the best tender again and agreeing it now helps all of our nations plan for the future on a sound financial footing.
