I have no problems with pigeons in general.I think that they have the right to live just like anything else.
What I have got a problem with is If they get at the food that I put onto the table. They will sit there until they have eaten it all.Other birds do not get a chance.
First I tried two bars per opening. They still got in sometimes. The bars were a bit thick and were blocking the view.
Round 2. changed the two bars for three made out of welding rod.Much better I can see in better now.
They can still get their head and neck in to clean the edges.I would not mind that if they eat some then went away to let the other birds have a bit.
But no they constantly walk round the edge trying to get in.Most times that I look at the camera I see pigeons. If they are not on the table they are on the pergola waiting.Time to get nasty.
Round 3. I put screws before each opening. To make it awkward for them.It dose but it dose not stop them trying.Nothing will stop the Squirrals though. At least when they have had their fill they go away.
Round four. Screws all way round the outside edge. to make it really awkward for them.I have to make sure that the other birds can still get in though. That worked for a while now they have learnt how to get round the screws.
Round 5 Bigger screws needed.

I feel rotten but what can one do.:)

They are not starving some are as big as small Ducks.

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

If they're wood pigeons, a pellet gun and a garlic, rosemary & thyme marinade are the solution... :D

I fortified mine with mesh to stop starlings to start with, now I only feed seeds and its put a stop to starlings coming, I took the mesh of and the pigeons started to come, so ive removed all the perches that's stopped them, but they still feed below, and was eating my upcoming plants so ive put pea netting over the plants,

I would suggest putting long tie wraps round the edge where they are lading, I see you have nails there not long enough to deter them.

You need to stop them landing, the doves are clever though, what ive done on the fence Ray is wrapped the tie wraps round a Cain them drilled the cane and screwed it, give this a go first it will only cost you pennies

You have to be very careful if you are going to use poison.

As there is a chance that it can get in to other wildlife.

If that happens then there is a chance you can be prosecuted!

Round 5 is complete. One large screw in front of each entrance.I think that this should work. The others were too short the pigeons were leaning over them.I think that the outer defence:) can now be removed.
I will see what happens.

Could you make a "globe" of chicken wire that encompasses the whole feeding station - stop the pigeons getting anywhere near the feeding area in the first place?

Round 5 is not a total success.I could not get to the left hand side to secure it properly.
So took the hut off its pole to do a better job.
The birdhut is a feature so don't what to make it too ugly.I am nearly there now.
They get a nibble but do not linger too long.:)

Keeping a cat in there would scare them off, but, it'd scare off the other birds too, which you probably don't want... :-rofl2

It looks well protected. It's probably got more teeth than a shark.I will leave it recording to see how the pigeons get on tomorrow morning.
I am not really paranoid you know.It is just the impression that I give.:)

No not fortification this time.Pigeon problem solved.
During the day because of the way that my bird table is made it can be dark inside.Sometimes the camera cannot see much in daylightI
At night the ir leds on the camera light it up. decieded to see if sticking some ir leds on the roof inside the birdhut would help.
Done some research it is just a matter of wiring them in series and putting the right voltage through them.
I have blown five up to now. I seem to have sorted it with the last six.Got another twenty on order for further experimenting. Only three and a bit quid.Pics of progress up to date.
