Every year I have to convince the young pigeons that they are not welcome in the Birdhut. This year one is being a bit awkward. it will not take the hint.It takes no notice of the siren, perhaps it is deaf.
A few more screws are required methinks. The vertical wire stop it getting in the outward facing screws stop it landing.
Hopefully

I am often up early doors.this morning at 5 am I heard a bird call that I think that I have not heard before.I recorded it on a ipad. After a lot of experimenting I got it onto the computer and Dropbox.I have searched on british-songs website the nearest bird call that I can find is an owl.Unlikely, one never knows though dose one. :) Hopefully this link will work. The clip has been edited

Don't know if it's "just me" but I had to log into Dropbox and then all I got was a 7-sec "datastream" which would not display (runing VLC player as the media player, and that "should" play almost format!)

Listening on British-songbirds .co.uk it sounds like a Tawny owl. Whatever it is it is calling now outside.

Worked no problem for me.................It's an owl.
Where I live there's quite a few Short Eared Owls together with Hen Harriers who nest about 300yds away. The young Owls sound like a Yorkshire Terrier being strangled, I think !!. Our bird feeding area is my rat killing ground, There's hundreds around & if you don't do something they'll take over & eat your car.

regards

Yeah that is indeed a Tawny Owl - we had loads of them in the trees around the old place at Galashiels - I used to hear them regularly :)

There have not been many birds around recently.Just the usual pigeons and occasional Magpie, a few sparrows. Not many Blackbirds.I expect that they are hiding away moulting. We had a different one at the Bird hut yesterday. Not sure what it is.At first we though Wren too big though.Looks too small for a young Blackbird.I cannot find it in my little bird book.

I think that this is the same bird.A bit better image. It looks to have gray on its neck and chest. It is in and out of the bird hut that fast it is difficult to get a good image.

That's a Dunnock, also known coloquially as a hedge sparrow, but not part of the Sparrow and Finches group, it is an Accentor and spends most of its time on the ground.
