My Satellite Setup
2 C-band big dishes, and a small 24 inch dish.
A computer separately with Windows 7 Ultimate.
My Location
Seattle, Washington - U.S.A.
I'm from the U.S.A.

Do anyone knows who sells the black dome cover for covering a feedhron on a C-band satellite big dish????

I tried by the following.....

Tex2000 - They have one which is in UK and it cost 89 US Dollars for 1 !!!!!

SHOPEE - They have one but ONLY for distributors or sellers can buy it, NOT "END user".

SatelliteDish.com - Have one which is in my country, in Florida, U.S.A.
But NOT sure IF their website is updated. It showed the old years on the
bottom of their website, 1996 - 2002 that listed the black dome cover.
And their main webpage says 2002 - 2015???

Alluda ( I think ) site is in CHINA!! They sells satellite dishes in all sizes but
don't see black dome cover.

Any other places where I can find the black dome cover replacement for my
C-band big dish?? And to JUST have extra SPARE!!! Because this is becoming
difficult to find such item!!!

Hope all helps with answers.

Thank you,

Well "C" band hardware stuff is getting very hard to find anywhere, one way is to look around the area and spot an un-used BUD, ask the land owners if they still want the dish, tell them you will remove it for free, (that's how I got my BUD)this may also get you some spare parts along the way.

One thing I have used it a plastic canister from rubber maid or tupperware that fits over the LNB, attach the lid to the scalar ring and snap in place, the drawback is trying to find one big enough, you can paint it flat black with plastic compatible paint.

One other thing that can be used is schedule 120 (or the thinnest you can find) PVC pipe (with a cap) its thin and durable, and it wont affect any signals. You can paint it to match.

If you don't have appearance anxiety. You can buy large bottles of Coca-Cola. After drinking comfortably, get empty bottle. Black electrical tape to get the job done.

If you know anyone in the 3d printing community, maybe they could produce something useable from a sketch or photo with a few dimensions added. I do prints using a number of different materials, some of which are not adversely affected by weather conditions.

I think you have to do it like that to know if you can use this or that plastic or not, can someone confirm?

You can test any plastic in your microwave.
put the plastic empty, add a cup with water on is side for 20 seconds at max power.
if the plastic is not hot after that you can use it. (it is not permeable to microwaves)

i dont follow...

do you mean fill the bottle (you intend to use) with some water - place it on its side, and microwave for 20 seconds?

The type of material the nose piece out in front of the "C" band dish is made of (dont use metal) will not affect the incoming signals, it can be any type of plastic or fiberglass, all it's for is to cover up the LNB for looks, most LNB's (if not all) are weather proof, and if the connections are done right so would be the coax.

You should never turn on an empty microwave, so for the test you need a cup of water, no water in the plastic ! :)
Some plastics can block more microwaves than others,
This test is done to find out if the one you have chosen blocks them or not.
If it blocks it will get hot.

For long distance wifi we used this test to check plastics. This Dove product was perfect for protecting a WiFi USB stick and replacing an LNB on an upside-down dish.

well the coke bottle cut off I used, it degraded the signal by about 0.2 of a decibel, but at least it protects the opened LNB from water ingress (in theory)

oh i like the colour of yours too! :) im green with envy.
