One of my all time favourite films is on BBC2 tomorrow evening (19th) at 9.00pm. It's Ridley Scott's "Bladerunner". If you haven't seen it - give a try. They are showing the 2007 "remix" version of the original 1982 film. This one gave Scott complete artistic control. Enjoy!

Yep the Dirs' cut is the shorter one without the happy ending and full explanation which was tacked on the end for the U.S market. O-no

Hi m8's ..
I'm proud to boast that I have the 5 disc Blu ray collectors edition which featues All cinematic releases plus the directors cut ....the final cut...and a rare workprint copy of the movie ..
Do I qualify as an Anorak ??
;)
A dark and brooding often prophetic view of the future from decades ago ..
certainly they got the climate shift part right ..
..so much rain..
in my opinion ..a work of art..
the sets were magnificent and the film still doesn't look dated ..even today..
This film could still give modern special effects a run for their money.
The last (dove) scene and ad-libbed lines from Rutger _still_ bring a lump to my throat..
anyone who's been living under a rock for the last few decades and somehow managed not to see this epic ...has a treat in store.
enjoy

Well they don't always do a happy ending for the American market, Von Ryan's Express original ending was him making it to the train, but Frank Sinatra wanted it changed to him being shot.:)

There were I think, three endings for the Italian Job, and as we know, they chose the middle one, neither success, nor failure.:) Vanishing point was also one with an alternative, but with this film they actually showed both. I saw it at the cinema and after the first ending where he crashes into the bulldozers, the curtains closed and the titles ran, but then the curtains opened again and showed the alternative, was great and totally unexpected, the whole audience applauded. :)

I'm a sucker for a happy ending.:)

I too saw the dramatic bulldozer ending at the cinema ...waaayy back ..
and to be honest ..I think I prefer to imagine it that way.
Didn't even know there_was_ an alternative.

Oddly bizzare ...origional...with a twist at the end that I definately didn't see coming the first time I watched it.

Me neither.

One of the (many!) reasons for disloking the remake was the happy ending with the driver peaking out from his hiding place as the car smashed into the barricade. I was SOOOO disappointed in the anticlimactic ending.

So, what WAS the alternative ending of the original?

I've been trying to find it on the web, but from memory he manages to launch over the bulldozers and lands the other side, driving off into the distance.

I really liked the way Sean Young looked in that movie, she was perfect for the role. I would have put up with that machine anytime :)

Oh, I don't know, Deckard uses a crt monitor to check the hologram image, and a rather dated copier for the final print.

But Zhora (Joanna Cassidy) is my idea of a perfect woman, she could play with my boa anytime.

For 'underated' from that era I would give a nod to The Cell, with Vincent D'Onfoniro and Jennifer Lopez. Well worth seeing for the multiple Nerdrum inferences alone. Mr Hurst, go back to school and come back with something interesting.

Nothing wrong with CGI when it's done right, but agreed, bad CGI should be hunted down.

Iron Man succeeded, but Transformers (1 and 2) should have been reworked before putting out in the public domain.
